1 Peter 2:13-25
Americans are notoriously bad tourists…
Transition: We are representative of a different kingdom…

Main Idea: Submitting to authority is a missions opportunity

1. Be the best citizen you can be (1 Peter 2:13-17)

Explanation: When we do good things as citizens, we silence accusations and create greater gospel clarity. However, this submission isn’t absolute—Jesus is our ultimate king…
Application: Pay your taxes, be the hardest workers, treat others with kindness and respect, etc.

2. Stay consistent, regardless of how other people treat you (1 Peter 2:18-25)

Explanation: When we endure through suffering, we act like Christ. He was gracious and gentle, even in suffering…
Application: Don’t retaliate or demand justice; trust the Lord…
Conclusion: Is your relationship to the government—and to other authorities in your life—honoring Jesus?
