Church family, today is a joyful occasion as we welcome into membership an individuals whom God has led to join our local body: Derek Eudy.
His desire to unite with Nehalem Valley Bible Church is not simply a formality—it is an expression of shared faith, mutual commitment, and a pledge to walk in fellowship, love, and accountability under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
Membership in this church means far more than having your name on a roll. It means sharing in the life and mission of the church, as a functioning part of the body of Christ. It means devotion to Scripture, support of one another in prayer, and active participation in the ministry and worship of this local fellowship.
We believe, as stated in our constitution, that membership is for those who have been redeemed by grace through faith in Christ, and who commit themselves to the life and doctrine of this church.
Derek having met with the elder council, has shared his testimony of faith in Jesus Christ, affirmed his alignment with our constitution and by-laws and today we joyfully receive him into our fellowship.
Fellowship Covenant Commitments
Fellowship Covenant Commitments
We now ask you, Derek, before God and these witnesses, to publicly affirm the following commitments drawn from our Fellowship Covenant:
1. Do you do in the presence of God and this congregation, confess the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, and gladly devote yourself to Him and His will, choosing Him for your portion forever, gladly pledging to Him all your love and devotion; and by grace, through the power of the Holy Spirit, endeavor to make His Word the rule of your faith and practice, and to take good heed to your conduct. If so, please say, “I do.”
2. Do you also pledge to watch over one another in love, to remember each other in prayer, to provoke one another to love and good works, and to be Christ-like in all your relations with all men. If so, please say, “I do.”
3. Do you engage to perform the sacred obligations conferred upon us in the Scriptures, observing the Lord’s Day; attending public worship with your families in season; striving to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. If so, please say, “I do.”
4. Do you pledge, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to employ the Divinely-given means of grace for our spiritual nurture and growth, such as; the study of God’s Word, prayer, testimony, and Christian fellowship; to promote the spiritual prosperity of the Church and cause of Christ; to contribute cheerfully and regularly as the Lord enables to the support of the ministry, the program of the church, and the work of Christ. If so, please say, “I do.”
Pastoral Charge to the New Members
Pastoral Charge to the New Members
Having made these commitments before God and this church, I charge you now to walk worthy of the calling you have received—to love Christ, to serve His body, and to represent Him well in your home, in the church, and in the world.
As you well know, you are not alone in this. As a church, we pledge to love you, support you, pray for you, and walk with you as fellow members of one body.
Elder Prayer Over New Members
Elder Prayer Over New Members
At this time, I’d like to invite the council to come forward and lay hands on Derek as we pray for them.
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the grace that has brought Derek into the family of God.
Thank You for the faith You've given him, the testimony You have shaped, and the gifts You have entrusted to him for the building up of the body.
Strengthen him by Your Spirit, grant him joy in service, humility in growth, and endurance in the face of trials. May he thrive in this fellowship, and may we be faithful in loving and supporting him.
In the name of Jesus Christ, the Head of the Church, we pray. Amen.

[Right Hand of Fellowship Invitation]
To the congregation:
Church family, as is our tradition and privilege, I now invite you—those who are members of Nehalem Valley Bible Church—to come forward as we extend to Derek, the Right Hand of Fellowship.
Let this be a symbol of your commitment to walk with them in unity, to encourage and exhort them in Christ, and to welcome them as fellow laborers in the Gospel.
