As we continue our study of the Levitical offerings, we now come to the second offering described in the book of Leviticus—the Grain Offering.
Unlike the burnt offering, which involved the shedding of blood, the grain offering consisted of fine flour, oil, frankincense, and sometimes baked cakes or roasted grain.
It was offering of gratitude, devotion, and acknowledgement that every blessing came from the hand of God.
James says...
James 1:17–18 NKJV
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. 18 Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.
Leviticus 2:1 introduces the grain offering...
Leviticus 2:1 NKJV
1 ‘When anyone offers a grain offering to the Lord, his offering shall be of fine flour. And he shall pour oil on it, and put frankincense on it.
This offering teaches us how God’s people express thankfulness, devotion, and dependence—not only then, but now.
