The Bible Recap: A One-Year Guide to Reading and Understanding the Entire Bible Day 17: Genesis 16–18
No angels in Scripture have two wings; they actually have zero wings. Scripture depicts them as human males who were possibly large and imposing, especially since the maybe-related Nephilim were giants. If angels are giants, that could be why people are afraid when they show up, or it could be because they seem to materialize out of thin air. A few forms of created beings do have wings, but none of them are angels. For instance, cherubim have four wings and faces and seraphim have six wings—and all of those wings are covered with eyeballs. You’ll never see that in a Renaissance painting!
