Hopefully you guys had fun

As I advertised this event one of things that I said alot was my desire for all of you guys to grow Spiritually

Know that you are rooted in Jesus

And the way that I want to do that is for us to all take a spiritual gifts test

How many of you guys have done that before?

Who knows what some of the Spiritual gifts are?

Just name some?

And so there is this idea that we are all wired differently

There are things that you are good at that I am not

There are things that I am good at that you are not

And it doesn’t come down to if I just work harder than I will be like that

But it is simply how God made us

And so I have been talking about it, but where do these things come from in the Bible

1 Corinthians 12:7–11 “A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.”

And so we can see that as Paul is talking it is clear that all of us are different

But I love what he says in that first verse

“A Spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other”

He talks about this even more farther down in 1 Corinthians

where he compares all of us using our gifts

to how we use our body parts

An eye is used for seeing

Ears are used for hearing

They all have to work together so that we can do things

But even more so none can say to the other that it isn’t needed.

Can I go 1 step deeper for you guys???

With all of these gifts there is an even deeper concept in scripture called “the 5 fold ministry”

every body say “ The 5 fold ministry”

This found in Ephesians

Ephesians 4:11–12 “Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.”

This idea of the fold ministry

Is that all of that giant list of gifts all fall under these 5 categories

And so here are some definitions to help you guys better understand the 5-fold

Tonight you guys are going to take a spiritual gifts test

3 really important things first

This is not a personality test

This test is not your identity

You can be multiple parts of the 5-fold at times

Question time with your table

Hopefully your discussion was good with your table

its one thing to come here and just take a test

But the Bible shows us that we are just supposed to know them

But to actually use them

1 Peter 4:10 “God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.”

And so I want to do that tonight

Lastly we won’t operate in these giftings unless we continue to pursue the Lord

That is why this whole event is called rooted

This isn’t just about us taking a fun test

but its saying “God I am saying how you created me”

“How can I now better serve you”
