Relationships are important and crucial.

Even in a digital and AI world relationships are key.

Relationships are hard.

This second truth is why we sometimes go to the easier ones of digital and AI, they are much easier and “cleaner”.

The Gospel is shared primarily through relationships.

This is my big idea this morning. Nothing major. Nothing probably very new. However it is extremely important we remember this. We can only invite others to something we ourselves have.

Be intentional about going where Jesus is.

John the baptist in verses 35-37 seems to have a thought like this, “if Jesus was here yesterday I want to see Him again.” Are you in the Word? Are you with His people?

An encounter with Jesus may seem “normal”.

For Andrew and the other disciple this was not much of a big deal. They approach him and have a semi-normal conversation. Similar with Philip the following day. Don’t go chasing the spectacular when Jesus is waiting in the every day.

Share Jesus where people are. Peter needed the Messiah. Nathanial a student of the OT.

Now these are not much different but the key principle we find Jesus using is his first disciples know what others are truly looking for. We must take the Gospel to people where they are not where we want them to end up.

Let Jesus be Jesus!

Sometimes we try to easily explain Jesus and what we must do is jsut show people Jesus, have them come and see Him and get out of the way. Peter is called “rock”. Nathaniel is told what Jesus saw in Him. Andrew and the other just spent time with him.

Be comfortable with doubt.

Even in the Gospel of John we are going to see the disciples don’t always get it “right” or early on. Doubt is not contradictory to faith but sometimes the seed of greater faith.

Jesus is-sacrificial lamb, rabbi & teacher, the Messiah, the Son of God, true King and much more.

Notice the names of Jesus in this passage. I highlighted a few.

Do you know Jesus?

Do you know Jesus of the Gospels?

Who will you invite?

We all have a responsibility to invite someone.
