I am...Bread

I’m so glad I know God. And I’m so glad that I know Jesus so I can know God, because to know Jesus is to know God, and there is no knowing God without Jesus. God has revealed himself is many ways. He is revealed in creation, in revelation, visions, written word, other people, but his express image and representation is Jesus. In other and better words, Jesus said, “If you’ve seen me you’ve seen the Father.” (Preach)

I eat bread. I’m one of those bread eaters who can just eat bread all day. I love the texture and taste. I don’t need butter, or jelly, or honey, or cheese, just give me the bread.

1. It Saves (v.41-44)

Moses was leading the people out of Israel and they needed food. God saved them by providing for them. Jesus is now identifying himself as that same saving substance from Heaven. The problem is that these people don't see that they need saving. They wanted seconds from the fish and loaves miracle.

— Salvation doesn’t come by reasoning Jesus out; it comes by receiving Him in.

— The crowd murmured, but the Father was still drawing. (God has a way of Drawing us to Jesus) This Bread saves because God sent Him.

2. It Satisfies (v.45-49)

Everyone who is taught by God comes hungry—and leaves full.

The Word of God — Manna filled stomachs but not souls.

Manna is what temporary, Jesus is eternal

This Bread satisfies because He is living, not leftover.

3. It Sustains (v. 47-51)

“I am the living bread… whoever eats of this bread will live forever.” — Temporary bread keeps you alive for a day. — Living Bread keeps you alive through death.

Having Jesus in your life gives you the blessing of eternal security. Which means when you know Jesus you don’t have to worry about tomorrow or eternity because you know that once you are in Jesus you are always with Jesus.

Life has a way of testing you. But if you have Jesus. If you eaten of this bread, then you know that the trials of life will never have the final say.

I heaven is our destination, then whatever happens between now and then becomes easier to face.

This Bread sustains because His life was given for ours.

Whole loaf, Lord of Lords

Wonder bread wonderful counselor

Hosts' cakes, the LORD of Host

Rye, Lord our Righteousness

Whole wheat, Holy of Holies

Pita Break, Prince of Peace

Sun raisins, just the crumbs from the Son that was raised
