Week 9: Come and See: The Power of Invitation
Key Text: John 4:7-42
Key Points
The calling of the first disciples in John begins with the invitation to “come and see” (John 1:39, 46). The biggest evangelistic movement in Jesus’ earthly ministry recorded here in John 4 is sparked by the same invitation to “come and see”!
QWhat exactly are people are invited to come and see?
Q: Why invite to “come and see”?
The Samaritan woman’s invitation sprang from her own life-changing encounter with Christ, and it was her testimony of what she had seen and experienced that led many to respond to her invitation (verse 42). Q. Are we witnesses of Jesus? We will be if we are living (daily) by the Gospel. (Connection points from lessons 3 & 7)
Discussion of how we invite people to “come and see” today, and how they encounter Christ in these things
Reading the Bible
Praying – reach out to God...
Coming to church (Lord’s Day worship)
Seeing the church (other church gatherings/church ministries, formal and informal)
Experiencing a Christian family/home (hospitality)
[Action: Invite at least two people this week to the Easter service and begin praying daily for them. Include people from Salvation prayer list.]
