INTRODUCTION
Imagine trying to build something—anything—using only hand tools.
Not because power tools don’t exist
Not because you can’t afford them
Not because they’re broken
They’re sitting right there.
But instead, you say, I’ve got this.
So you reach for a screwdriver instead of a drill
It works… but it’s slow, exhausting, and frustrating
You grab a hammer instead of a nail gun
It gets the job done… but it takes longer and wears you out
You pull out a handsaw instead of a skill saw
Same result—eventually—but at a much higher cost
You use sandpaper instead of a sander
And by the end, your arms are tired and your patience is gone.
Here’s the thing:
None of those tools are wrong.
They’re just not the best tool available.
TENSION
Sometimes we choose the harder way—not because we have to,
but because of an “I can do it” attitude.
We don’t reject help
We just don’t reach for it
And spiritually, prayer is the power tool we leave untouched
Not because prayer doesn’t work
Not because God isn’t available
But because we convince ourselves:
“I’ll figure this out.”
“I’ll handle it.”
“I don’t want to bother God with this.”
So we exhaust ourselves trying to do with human strength
what God invited us to do with divine help
