Born July 28, 1959 Graduated from this world January 25, 2026
Walter was a nurse, professor, husband, dad, grand-dad and great friend and teacher to many. He was called Mr B by staff and students, and he was a notorious know-it-all who didn’t come across as pompous when he shared what he learned. At least most of the time.
He had his struggles, who doesn’t? His entire family shared in their own struggles. Sometimes together, sometimes against each other. But Whenever Walt spoke of his kids and grandkids, both he and Brenda always spoke of their love and admiration for them all.
Because of his family and personal struggles, Walt shared often with others of his faith, even when he struggled with that self-same faith. Real faith can often be a struggle, because real life always happens and we then find out how to fight the real fight, of faith. Walt certainly learned, “…the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds” 2 Corinthians 10:4 NKJV
Walt & Brenda fought cancer together and what a battle it was. Through all of it, they both shared often that during his treatments, many of you that he trained took amazing care of him and he was so proud of what you all had become. Walt knew that the same care was needed spiritually. He and Brenda fellowshipped often, attended retreats, studied and had some debates back and forth with many. One of his best buds, Kellen, often went back and forth with Walt and grew to knew that his friend was a true believer in Christ.
Thats where faith begins to take root. Where someone who says things like, the bible is true, Jesus is real, and you can have eternal life sounds crazy until someone you love truly believes it, shares it all & you realize that God is after even you. That your God loves you.
Even as humanity started out, we fell to sin. Disobeying God Adam and Eve entered into what is called spiritual death (physical death would come later). Romans tells us that its not just Adam and Eve, but you and I without doubt. “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23 and that sin, that rebelling against God, has a cost, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
Now Jesus says, its more than religion or what YOU DO. Its based on what Jesus did, you have to be made new - “Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”” John 3:3
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. ”“Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.” Romans 5:8–9
“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. ”“For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9–10
“For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”” Romans 10:13
Its why even though we also struggle, we will miss Walt, but we aren’t irreparably broken because we know: “And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13 NLT
We know beyond doubt, that we will enter into eternity because Jesus rose from the dead. And He said that because He did, we will to
“He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.” 2 Corinthians 5:15 NLT
I close this memorial for Walt in sadness yes, for us us, but in Joy for him. “For we live by believing and not by seeing. ”“Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord. ”“So whether we are here in this body or away from this body, our goal is to please him. ”“For we must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body.” 2 Corinthians 5:7–10 NLT
The best and most moral thing you can do, is to trust in Jesus as your savior. Now with every head bowed, every eye closed, if you would like to receive Jesus as your Lord and savior, raise your hand right now. Then pray with me.
