Greetings…
The chorus we just sang with Give Me The Bible is so wonderfully powerful, is it not.
Give me the Bible,
Holy message shining,
Thy light shall guide me in the narrow way;
Precept and promise, law and love combining,
Till night shall vanish in eternal day.
Why would or should we boldly claim to “Give Me The Bible?”
In our lesson this morning, we are going to
Trust God’s Word
Trust God’s Word
God’s Word Is Trustworthy
God’s Word Is Trustworthy
From strictly a logical perspective the bible can be considered God’s word based on several realities.
It was written over a 1,500 year period of time and by roughly 44 different men and yet there are zero contradictions within the sixy-six different books that make up the bible.
That means out of 1,189 chapters that span 1,500 years and 44 different authors there are zero contradictions.
That means out of 31,102 verses that span 1,500 years and 44 different authors there are zero contradictions.
It makes no logical sense that this could take place.
The experiment done by us at BTSOP.
Remember a contradiction is something that cannot harmonize.
From a biblical point of view the bible does not shy away from declaring it is written by God and is trust worthy.
Several passages point to divine inspiration.
16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
10 these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.
37 If anyone thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that the things I am writing to you are a command of the Lord.
21 For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
It’s no wonder then that the bible declares it is trustworthy.
160 The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever.
5 Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
7 The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; 8 the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;
9 the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. 11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.
Summary
Summary
Give me the bible because it is trustworthy.
There is no logically denying it is by divine inspiration.
Because God’s word is trustworthy we should shout out give me the bible, in other words we should…
Desire God’s Word
Desire God’s Word
Because It Is Wondrous
Because It Is Wondrous
The word of God is the most wondrous and wonderful document every written down for man.
It’s perfection, strength, and love cannot be surpassed.
18 Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.
96 I have seen a limit to all perfection, but your commandment is exceedingly broad.
We should desire or long for God’s word because it is the mind of God, written for our salvation.
16 “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.
Give me the bible and thus desire God’s word…
Because It Deserves Our Dedication
Because It Deserves Our Dedication
Many think dedication to God’s Word is reading the Bible here or there or maybe even everyday to some degree and then putting it down to not think about it again until “at most” the next day.
Some even think that “as long as they attend some services” they are dedicated to God’s Word which couldn’t be further from the truth.
This couldn’t be further from the truth.
Dedication takes being consumed with God’s Word.
20 My soul is consumed with longing for your rules at all times.
12 I have not departed from the commandment of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my portion of food.
1 O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
Dedication takes being delighted in God’s Word.
24 Your testimonies are my delight; they are my counselors.
22 For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being,
174 I long for your salvation, O Lord, and your law is my delight.
Dedication takes choosing faithfulness to God’s Word.
30 I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I set your rules before me.
22 Then Joshua said to the people, “You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen the Lord, to serve him.” And they said, “We are witnesses.” 23 He said, “Then put away the foreign gods that are among you, and incline your heart to the Lord, the God of Israel.” 24 And the people said to Joshua, “The Lord our God we will serve, and his voice we will obey.”
Dedication takes clinging to God and His Word.
31 I cling to your testimonies, O Lord; let me not be put to shame!
6 For he held fast to the Lord. He did not depart from following him, but kept the commandments that the Lord commanded Moses.
Summary
Summary
Dedication to God’s Word takes being consumed and delighted by the Holy Writ and it takes choosing faithfulness to God through His Word by clinging to it with everything you have.

Invitation
1 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear; 2 but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.
6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
30 The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent
33 So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.
32 Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. 33 But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.
8 in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
1 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures
3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
