Don’t believe everything you hear.… Are you someone that struggles with this? What is true? What should be rejected? Well you have come to the right place…
Good day everybody. I hope you are all doing well! We are back again with the hopes that roots are growing deeper. Have you ever read psalm 1? This is the picture of what I want to be. It is a picture of what I want you to be! Psalm 1
How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the way of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
But his delight is in the law of Yahweh,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
And he will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season
And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.
The wicked are not so,
But they are like chaff which the wind drives away.
Therefore the wicked will not rise in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
For Yahweh knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the wicked will perish.
So today we come back to the word to keep putting together this supernatural foundation that we are laying. It will effect everything that we do. Our marriages, our prayer life, the way that we answer worldview questions. So, lets get back to building this foundation.
Today I want to put together something that did not hit me until I published the last episode. It is this connection with the snake. Last episode we talked about the kundalini awakening which is the Hindu answer to becoming a child of light. Their answer to becoming born again. And I told you that they describe kundalini as a snake inside of you. A snake that is wrapped three and a half times around the base of your spine. The hope is that she is awakened and moves throughout your body in order to channel divine energy and awaken you to the eternal.
THEN I finished the episode by taking you back to the image of the bronze snake being lifted up in the wilderness. We did this because this is what Jesus told nicademas must happen. According to Jesus, if you want eternal life, you must not do yoga, or become a good person, you must look to the son who will be lifted up on the cross like the bronze serpent in the wilderness.
As I was considering all of this I missed one connection. This one connection helps us as Christians bring all of the bible into our discernment of this and not just those couple of accounts.
What I mean is this: The scriptures are full of themes. And once you get those themes down it helps us understand the stories, see the purpose and intent of each story breathed out by God in the scriptures, and realate them to the world in which we live. You might have caught this theme before I did. Hinduism’s answer to light and dark is to say that there is a snake inside of man that needs to be awoke.
Go back to the garden, go back to our first twilight moment as the sun begins to go down. Who is speaking to the woman? The bible describes the one speaking as a serpent. A snake for lack of better words. What happens to cause the fall of man? Does the snake not get into the woman's head? He gets into her ear and her mind and causes her to awaken the snake inside. The serpent, it seems so obvious but he moves in this present darkness like a hooded figre. Masqerating as an angel of light but with the intent to destory and distort. Liste to Revelation 12:9…
And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world. He was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
He deceives the whole earth. Every nation, every ideology, every religion is being deceived. Except one… 1 JOhn 4 gvies us this advice to know wheather or not we are being decied by the devil or if the word is truth…
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,
and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world.
You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
They are from the world; therefore they speak as from the world, and the world hears them.
We are from God. The one who knows God hears us; the one who is not from God does not hear us. From this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
There are two spirits that drive everything. Everything is spiritual. In the psalms we can see this as they tell us over and over again that there are only 3 types of characters in the bible. The righteous, the wicked, and God. Jew, greek, american, black, white, rich, poor, no no no… Of God or not.. Of the spirit of God or not.
Those who are teaching especially, John mentions false prophets who are not of the spirit of God but are of the spirit of the antichrist. They are aligned and give their allegiance to another god…
I want to share a story with you in regards to this because I think it helps us gain som context… 1 Kings 22...
So how do you test them? 1 john 4:2 and 1 john 5:1...Do they confess that Jesus is the Christ? He is the only begotten son of God. He is the Messiah, God incarnate, God in the flesh, the glorious son, magnificent word made flesh come to die. The scriptures tell us, the spiritual question depends on who they worship. Christians, worship Christ. Jesus Christ, the lamb who was slain, the king of Heaven.
Hindusism view Jesus as a master guru, one of many. Buddhism views Jesus as an enlightened teacher. Shikism and Isalm see Jesus as a great prophet. What about in the west? The west has its struggles too, because many say they believe in Jesus, but what does that mean? You believe what about him? The tests of 1 John 4 and 5 are is he savior? is he the christ? The only salvation of God. And someone in the west can say yes I believe that, but a confession is more than simply an acknowledgment. Even the demons believe
Now seeing Jesus, he cried out and fell before Him, and said in a loud voice, “What do I have to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You, do not torment me.”
So no matter if you are in the east or the west, to test if you are of the spirit of God or is a word is worth listening to by a speaker or teacher, you need to know how they live. What spirt animates their life and not just their mouth. It all revolves around Jesus, and Jesus told his disciples, speaking to thos who are of him, John 15:14
“You are My friends if you do what I command you.
John says the same thing… 1 John 5:1-6
Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the One who gives new birth loves also the one who has been born of Him.
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and do His commandments.
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.
For everything that has been born of God overcomes the world; and this is the overcoming that has overcome the world—our faith.
Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood. It is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is the truth.
Listnen, there is a spirit that drives everything. Either the spirit of the world, the spirit that is evil and opposes God. Or the spirit of God. The spirit of the holy. To be born again is to be embodied with that Spirit. To be baptized with that spirit. The spirit of God is not an it… The spirit is the third person of the trintiy, it is a person. Jesus speaks about him as a He. He doesn’t just effect your mouth and what you say, but how you see, and think, and live. He brings you into the light. he is illuminattion. Go back to the story in 1 kings… The flase prophet worshipped and lived for baal… While the true prophet was OF yahweh, he had the spirit of Yahweh and did not just speak it, but lived it.
My friends, don’t believe everything you hear. But test it. Use the mind, the logic that God gave you and bring it back to him. Run to Christ and say, is this of you or not? Run to his word and meditate on it day and night. The supernatural foundations of our life is not somthing in the perifery… it is dirving everything we do. We are of God, strong trees planted by streams bearing fruit in seaon. Or we are wicked, like the chaff blowing in the wind.
So take heed, test the spirits, listen closely to what is being said, and what is being promoted by the one saying it. Those in Christ live, and move, and have their being and joy in their live only because of Christ…
