Opening Scripture
Opening Scripture
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Hebrews 10 emphasizes that Jesus’ sacrifice has replaced the old Levitical system.
Because believers now have direct access to God through Christ (Hebrews 10:19–22), they are called to live out their faith in community
Verses 24–25 transition from doctrine to practice
Engagement in the Church is not optional—it is a safeguard against drifting spiritually.
Engagement is not passive attendance but intentional encouragement and accountability.
Early Christians often met in private homes, not large public buildings. These gatherings were intimate, diverse, and sometimes risky due to persecution. Hebrews 10:25 reflects the reality that some believers were tempted to withdraw from these meetings out of fear or social pressure.
Engagement was framed not only as mutual support but as preparation for the coming Kingdom
Often times we tend to make excuses as to why we are content with only being a spectator as opposed to becoming a participator…
The reality is that if we are comfortable to only being a participator without any intentions on becoming a participator we are allowing the enemy to position in a place of isolation that will not only hinder our spiritual growth but could hinder us from releasing the oil that God has placed within us
From Disabled To Enabled
From Disabled To Enabled
For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
You may believe that there is nothing for you to do within the church — But God through Romans 12 is reminding us that there is a part for EVERYONE!!
The Church functions by all of the parts working together for the Glory of God.
You may be discouraged from being a participator because you thought you were called to a specific area but God revealed that was not what He had in store for you…
Everyone wants a title but very few want to function in the job that the title brings
Not Everyone will be a Pastor — But Doesn’t mean that God still can’t use you in a mighty way!
In order to transition from spectator to participator we must let go of our will and fully surrender ourselves to the will of God!
You can NOT correctly transition from spectator to participator if you are only trying to do your will instead of God’s will… because God ways are not our ways.
Disappointment will position you in a place where you are disabled —- not using what God has equipped you with to build up His Church.
To surrender to God’s will will position you to a place where you enabled to serve and serve well!
What Are You Devoted To?
What Are You Devoted To?
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
The early Church devoted themselves to:
Sound Teaching: The teachings that originated with Jesus and now has been imparted within the apostles.
Fellowship: Being in Godly community not forsaking it because of worldly emotion or because they couldn’t get there way…
Breaking of bread: Remembering the sacrifice of Jesus declaring wholeness through Jesus and the completed works on the cross and through the Resurrection.
Prayer: Instead of complaining and feeding into ones negativity they prayer for all things with no end.
What the early Church devoted themselves is what the church of today should be devoting themselves to.
In todays church we have people wanting to be devoted to anything and everything that truly does not matter.
If the Church isn’t willing to comfort us in our sin then we choose not to be engaged but feel justified in our disengagement.
What we fail to realize is that if we are not devoted to sound doctrine, and a church that truly models the likeness of the early church we position ourselves in a place of being lead astray.
We MUST evaluate everything according to God’s standard and not our standard “The Flesh” Standard.
What you devote yourselves to will determine the type of fruit that you bare spiritually.
Lets Get To Work
Lets Get To Work
For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.
The Church is not about a physical space but instead the people of God in it!!
Regardless of our position within the Church we are all co-laborers in spreading the gospel
Leadership matters and the way you lead matters!!
Leadership is not about status but instead by setting an example for people to follow
How will you and how are you leading people?
What is stopping you from transitioning from contentment with being a spectator to becoming a participator
In order for us to be fruitful we must be willing to allow God to sow the seed of His word into our hearts
To reap the harvest in the Spirit we must put the word of God to work in our lives daily
To honor God fully we must step up to the place and become engaged!
What Work is God calling you to?
