WE WEAR HIS NAME

It feels like a Super Sunday, the fact that we are finally back together for one of these.
Growing Up in the South, some of my oldest memories are football.
Raised a Carolina fine. Love Hate, we love them, they so often seem to hate us. But nothing like the Gamecocks.
I remember growing up wanting to emulate Todd Ellis and Sterling Sharpe and a guy who is a really good friend of mine these days, Toby Cates who made his mark here in Spartanburg County.
We played every day in recess as a kid, football and faith became intertwined when I was in the 5th grade, not only praying for the guys in Garnet.
When we’d lose, pray don’t come yet Lord, don’t want to live as a loser for all eternity.
It was that real to me.
Sometimes I wish it all still were and that my faith were still that simple
It’s still crazy to me that I’m in sports for a living. On a day like today, when the world (in essence) pauses to watch the super bowl, sports themes run thick.
