Romans Road

Sign Post #1: Because of our sin, we are separated from God
Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
Romans 5:12 “Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned”
Sin - is a condition, state of being, not a deed
Nature of sin
Hamartia - missing the mark
Parabasis - step across the line
paraptoma - slip across the line. impulsive, unplanned
Annalmia - lawlessness. Total rebellion
Opheilema - debt
Or
Inherited sin - Through Adam, the inherent inclination to sin entered the human race, and human beings became sinners by nature.
Romans 5:12 “Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—”
Imputed sin - -Imputed sin is the result of our having been credited with the guilt of Adam’s sin
Romans 5:18 “Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men”
Personal sin - that which is committed every day by every human being. Because we have inherited a sin nature from Adam, we commit individual, personal sins, everything from seemingly innocent untruths to murder.
Romans 8:9–11 “You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.”
Sign Post #2: The penalty for our sin is death
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Revelation 20:11–15 “Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.”
Sign Post #3: The penalty for our sin was paid by Jesus Christ!
Romans 5:8 “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Sign Post #4: If we repent of our sin, then confess and trust Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we will be saved from our sins!
Romans 10:13 “For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.””
Romans 10:9–10 “because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”
Sign Post #5: Can you be sure that if you ask Christ to save you, He will?
1 John 5:1 “Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him.”
1 John 5:13 “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.”

Four Spiritual Laws

Law #1: God LOVES you and has a wonderful PLAN for your life
God’s Love: John 3:16 ““For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
God’s plan: John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
Law #2: Man is SINFUL and SEPARATED from God. Thus he cannot know and experience God’s love and plan for his life.
Man is sinful: Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
Man is separated: Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Law #3: Jesus Christ is God’s ONLY provision for man’s sin. Through Him you can know and experience God’s love and plan for your life
He died in our place: Romans 5:8 “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
He rose from the dead: 1 Corinthians 15:3–6 “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep.”
He is the only way to God: John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Law #4: We must individually RECEIVE Jesus Christ as savior and Lord; then we can know and experience God’s love and plan for our lives
We must receive Christ: John 1:12 “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,”
We receive Christ through faith: Ephesians 2:8–9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
When we receive Christ, we experience a new birth: John 3:1-8
We receive Christ through personal invitation: Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.”
