Welcome
Joshua 3:1–5 ESV
1 Then Joshua rose early in the morning and they set out from Shittim. And they came to the Jordan, he and all the people of Israel, and lodged there before they passed over. 2 At the end of three days the officers went through the camp 3 and commanded the people, “As soon as you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God being carried by the Levitical priests, then you shall set out from your place and follow it. 4 Yet there shall be a distance between you and it, about 2,000 cubits in length. Do not come near it, in order that you may know the way you shall go, for you have not passed this way before.” 5 Then Joshua said to the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.”
Romans 12:1–3 ESV
1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. 3 For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.
Prayer:

“The world has yet to see what God can do with a man fully consecrated to Him.” - DL Moody

A journey on this journey called PILGRIMAGE: a study of what it looks like as we see our lives the way the bible describes our lives which is on a journey, a pilgrimage with him.
Last week was the second installment and we talked about the Wilderness, into the wilderness Jesus was led by the spirit “into the wilderness” and so it will be with yours and my life when we surrender fully to Jesus as our lord - We too also will perhaps find ourselves being taken into the wilderness not for wandering but for purpose:
The wilderness has significance and purpose
its a refiner
its a time of revelation, that God is a provider (Water from a rock, Bread from Heaven)
But what we have here in our text today, is the new leader of the people of Israel, the successor Joshua who has come to a significant point where they are about to cross over
Q:ever felt a time in your life where you just got the sense that something BIG was about to take place?
(our story about leaving to come to the USA….. a long wait, but a big shift)

Dedicated at the Jordan: Prior to the Promise

Joshua 3:5 ESV
5 Then Joshua said to the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.”
You cant pass on into the promise, until God has you ready to recieve it.
You cant possess the blessing of God, until God prepares you to recieve it.

WHAT IS CONSECRATION? Why does it matter….And why did the people of God have to do it before they went over the jordan?

Here is the big question for you as you live your life on a pilgrimage towards the promise:
WHAT HOLY CONSECRATION IS GOD CALLING ON IN YOUR LIFE THAT IS NECESSARY BEFORE TO CAN CONTINE ON TOWARDS YOUR PROMISE? Josh 3:5
Joshua 3:5 NIV
5 Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”
Write this down: “Consecration Prepares the Way for Calling & Destiny”
What wonders are ahead in your life, what amazing things does God want to bring forth in your life in this next season of the journey?
Lets believe to step into it today and from here: God doesnt want a wandering church, a people who arent sure that he has AMAZING Things in store, my prayer is that this message today will build YOUR FAITH as you TRUST HIM in the days, weeks, months and years to come in JESUS NAME
God has all throughout the bible used consecration as his way of bringing forth his purposes in real time
Quick few examples we wont read but maybe you want to go and read them later
Here are clear, powerful examples of consecration in the Bible — moments where people, places, or things were set apart for God’s purposes:

Exodus 19 – Israel at Mount Sinai

God calls Israel to be a “kingdom of priests.” The people had to wash their clothes and prepare themselves before meeting God.
(Consecration often involves preparation and purity before encountering God)

1 Samuel 16 – David Anointed

The prophet Samuel consecrates Jesse and his sons before the sacrifice, and then anoints David as king.

Daniel 1 – Daniel Refuses the King’s Food

Daniel chooses not to defile himself with royal food.
(Consecration sometimes looks like personal discipline and boundaries)

7. Luke 2:22–23 – Jesus Presented at the Temple

Jesus is presented to the Lord according to the Law of Moses.
Lesson: Dedication to God begins early and honors covenant faithfulness.
With these three today, i want you to think about your own life in Christ, and allow the Holy Spirit to SHOW YOU how God has called you to this life that paul talks about in Romans
a living sacrifice
Consecration, is

1.I AM SET APART

So lets talk about what it is, what it isnt?
Going to church isnt necesarily being set apart. great you showed up, great you keep showing up. But what about your life in totality?
is it set apart?
Well the good news today is that your life in Christ, if you are believer in the Lord Jesus for your salvation you are already SET APART
1 Peter 3:15 NLT
15 Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it.

1 Peter 3:15

– “Sanctify Christ as Lord”

“But in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord…”
The word sanctify means “set apart.”
Peter is saying: Set Christ apart in your heart as supreme.
👉 That’s consecration of the heart
We are set apart from
We are set apart TO.
How can we be a place of refuge and blessing when we arent any different to the world around us? We live in a culture of comprimise: let me tell you something, Jesus didnt comprimise, God didnt comprimse, the Holy spirit will ensure that you dont either!!!
Culture doesn’t need us to be louder — it needs us to be different.”
often times the biggest difference the christian makes is when all the loud leaves: and whats left is someone who desperately wants truth, needs grace…. and ultimately is met with the Love of Christ which compels us, attracts us
Is your life set apart? what area of your life could use some consecration? to be set apart in a world thats so desperately needing it
set apart
1 Peter 1:15–16 NLT
15 But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. 16 For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”
Gods choice was you - now live in the wake of that new reality Peter says
1 Peter 2:9 ESV
9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

2.I AM DECLARED HOLY

cleansing happens as a result of Gods grace, and our obedience: our repentance
God does not allow that which is holy to be only partly clean
It takes repentance: whens the last time you said to God: im sorry
Its a powerful prayer that prayer
Because its not about being perfect, its about being HONEST
Consecration is walking from darkness into light
giving over to him all the good, the bad, the inbetween. saying God i know through your word you have set me apart - thank you that in Christ Jesus, i am declared HOLY, blameless, sanctified, Consecrated
“God will take nine steps toward us, but He will not take the tenth. He will incline us to repent, but He cannot repent for us.” A.W Tozer

3.I AM DEDICATED FOR FUTURE USE:

2 Timothy 2:20–21 ESV
20 Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. 21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.

🔥 John Wesley

“Give me one hundred men who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God, and I care not a straw whether they be clergy or laymen; they alone will shake the gates of hell.”
(Consecration produces spiritual authority.)
