Having exposed the pattern of the old self—shaped by the values and practices of the world—Paul now turns to the pattern of the new self, formed after the person, character, and nature of Jesus Christ. In this passage, we see the ongoing work of Christ within us, renewing and transforming us into His image. As we put on this new life, our hearts and actions begin to reflect the realities of heaven rather than the patterns of earth.
