Think of a caterpillar before it becomes a butterfly. It has to go through a transformation to discover its true identity. Likewise, when we accept Jesus, we undergo a transformation to see ourselves as new creations. Understanding our identity in God helps us embrace the beauty of who we truly are.

9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;
