2 Peter 1:6 “And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;”
Godliness alludes to Reverence and obedience
Ultimately, being truly reverent means holding someone or something in such high regard that your respect reshapes your behavior. You don’t merely feel reverent—you live it through obedience, honor, and deference that reflect your inner conviction about what deserves your deepest respect.

Ephesians 4:29 “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.”
The Corruption of Your Word
It’s supposed to build others up
NOT bitterness, wrath, anger, clamour, and evil speakings.
It grieves the Spirit of God
Ephesians 4:30–32 “And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
The Crowd Around Your Word
It Identifies you with the World
It Grieves Your Spirit
Matthew 26:73–75 “And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee. Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew. And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.”
