Do we have too much water in reserve?
1 Kings 18:30–35 ESV
Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come near to me.” And all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord that had been thrown down. Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord came, saying, “Israel shall be your name,” and with the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord. And he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two seahs of seed. And he put the wood in order and cut the bull in pieces and laid it on the wood. And he said, “Fill four jars with water and pour it on the burnt offering and on the wood.” And he said, “Do it a second time.” And they did it a second time. And he said, “Do it a third time.” And they did it a third time. And the water ran around the altar and filled the trench also with water.
Remember this was in a drought, they didn't have a lot of water in reserve, some scholars believe that 12 barrels was all that they had left. The faith that they must of had!!!
They wanted the real God to answer by fire:
1 Kings 18:36 ESV
And at the time of the offering of the oblation, Elijah the prophet came near and said, “O Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your word.
1 Kings 18:37–38 ESV
Answer me, O Lord, answer me, that this people may know that you, O Lord, are God, and that you have turned their hearts back.” Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.
The biggest threat to the NEXT thing God wants to do is what we have in reserve!
I dont pray for headaches to leave because I have tylenol
God has blessed me so I give what im comfortable giving!
Im satisfied with this much of what God did that i’m not hungry enough for the next move of God!!
Jeremiah 12:5 ESV
“If you have raced with men on foot, and they have wearied you, how will you compete with horses? And if in a safe land you are so trusting, what will you do in the thicket of the Jordan?
Remember there is always a higher level of God He is trying to stretch you and I to go to.
Hosea 6:3 ESV
Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord; his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.”
A man can choose to stay where we are or we can climb higher!!!
God is asking us to be ready to transition from a foot soldier to a Horse soldier.
The difference between a foot soldier and a horse soldier
We become more effective
We dont carry the Load ourselves
we draw strength from it
The soldier on the Horse sits higher and can see further and is never at a disadvantage.
Listen I believe God is calling us to transition to a greater dimension, to walk in a higher level from where we are and God is preparing us!!!
remeber that we must continue to pray, to seek, to knock.
Dont give up, dont back down, empty the barrels of water and let God show himself strong,
Remember Wednesday Night, I shared about not giving up on the house I believed the one God wanted us to have.
I went and parked in the drive, I ate lunch in the drive praying. Even after they said it was sold because it still sat empty for so long that i would not give up, I knew that if there was a way God would make it happen.
What God wants to do in us is I believe is just like that.
Our ministry is being transitioned from not having to having, from foot soldiers to horse soldiers, from pouring it all out to God answering by fire.
Tell story about Prayer meeting in the balcony at Oasis: God doesnt answer by fire because we haven’t sacrificed enough for the fire.
