Matthew 11:20 ESV

Then he began to denounce the cities where most of his mighty works had been done, because they did not repent.

Mat 11:20-24

Three cities are named in these verses, that Jesus had done many of His “mighty works”. He pronounced a “woe”, “what sorry awaits you” because they saw first hand all these miracles and heard the preaching of the word from Jesus Himself and they did not repent. Jesus concludes that “it will be more bearable on the day of judgment for other cities that did not have their experience and exposed to t he teaching of the word, “than for you”. Even Sodom, that wicked city that was destroyed by a fiery judgement would be more tolerable on the day of judgment. What an inditement!! This is a stern warning to me, and to all who have the full revelation of Jesus the Christ, as presented in the Holy Bible. They only has partial knowledge because Christ was not yet risen from the dead as final proof that He was the promised Messiah, but we have. What sorry awaits us if we neglect so great a salvation, Heb 2:3, “than for you”, Luke 12:47-48.

LORD, I am convicted by those words, “than for you”, they are speaking directly to me. Help me LORD to examine my life in light of what I know to see if I am living according to Your holy word. Is the works that I do bring glory to Your Holy name Mat 5:16.
