Just as Elijah went from possibly the biggest spiritual high to the lowest in the manner of a couple weeks, he was not aware of God’s grander plan at work in Israel. Today we are going to look at two major doctrines of the church, a rejection of God, and the Remnant of God and how God’s People interacts with both. Here again we are going to take a hard look at Israel and who are really the people of God. Remember my 3 rules for this discussion, Rule 1: Whatever your view on Israel is, we can be friends, however that view will be challenged, today, there will be some challenges. Rule 2: We will not get into the end times things concerning Israel at this point, not beyond what Romans is saying. and Rule 3: That the Law never saved. OT saints were saved by grace through faith in Messiah, they just didn’t know them by name. As we continue today, lets ask the question, Who are God’s People?

Not the same word used when talking about Pharoah in Rom 9:16
This is more of a blockage
Mark 6:52 “for they did not understand about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened.”
Mark 8:14–21 “Now they had forgotten to bring bread, and they had only one loaf with them in the boat. And he cautioned them, saying, “Watch out; beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.” And they began discussing with one another the fact that they had no bread. And Jesus, aware of this, said to them, “Why are you discussing the fact that you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive or understand? Are your hearts hardened? Having eyes do you not see, and having ears do you not hear? And do you not remember? When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?” They said to him, “Twelve.” “And the seven for the four thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?” And they said to him, “Seven.” And he said to them, “Do you not yet understand?””
2 Corinthians 3:12–18 “Since we have such a hope, we are very bold, not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face so that the Israelites might not gaze at the outcome of what was being brought to an end. But their minds were hardened. For to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it taken away. Yes, to this day whenever Moses is read a veil lies over their hearts. But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.”
