16 From now on, then, we do not know anyone from a worldly perspective. Even if we have known Christ from a worldly perspective, yet now we no longer know him in this way. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come! 18 Everything is from God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ and has given us the ministry of reconciliation. 19 That is, in Christ, God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and he has committed the message of reconciliation to us.
20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us. We plead on Christ’s behalf, “Be reconciled to God.” 21 He made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
What is an ambassador?
What is an ambassador?
An ambassador is someone who represents a nation, kingdom or other entity. They must have the following qualities: Authenticity, Passion, good communicator, Knowledgeable, good people skills and must understand the culture of the area they are place in. We have a calling and a responsibility as the body of christ, to carry out this mission of carrying the message of the gospel and representing the kingdom of God as ambassadors. This building, for lack of better term, is our embassy. It is where we conduct the kingdom business, advocate the interests of the kingdom to the community around us. The church is not just a place for us to gather to worship but it is a place for us to be equipped to carry out our mission.
A United States ambassador will be stationed in a country where they are tasked with protecting the interest of US citizens in that country. Where they will advocate for the interests and relationship between the US and the citizens of that country. They work out of the embassy where they can be connected to all the resources and information they need to do their job. According to what Paul wrote to the church at Corinth, we have that same task on behalf of the Kingdom of God.
