Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Turning around starts in our minds. Unless there is a willingness, change will never reach our heart.
The bible says:
So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.

You need to know that there is a better way. If you don’t believe that you will never overcome!
Outlook starts in the mind. how we see things and how we interpret them. Our understanding and minds need a new way of thinking.

The work of faith comes from the heart. Believe with all of your heart! Heart means it is really in you. When you do something without heart it means it was just and action and no real effort was put into it.
And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.

Once your heart and mind are on the same page, now direction of your life will be reversed. This takes conviction and boldness. but the payoff is tremendous. Now it is time to be a doer of the word not just a hearer. and you will be the best doer if your mind and heart are all in.
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like.

Water Baptism is a sign of being all in! fully immersed. Like this is the most important decision of your life.
Our repentance, change of mind heart and ways is to be an all in journey. If we attempt this journey in any other way we will certainly have given the Devil an advantage.
After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him.
For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.
