Jesus is having a conversation with the Samaritan Women at the well regarding her worship. During this conversation he imparts some very important information lets pick it up that in .
John 4:23–24 NKJV
But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

John 4:22–24 NKJV
You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Objective:

It has always been the will of God for those of us who have been grafted into the plan of redemption to know who God truly is. From the time God appeared to Abraham to the time Moses ask who shall I say sent me God desires that we know who he is. God makes no attempt to prove his existence.
He allows the intelligence and variations of creation to speak for him. Then he has provided us with information and understanding from his word. Jesus tells this samaritan women “you worship what you know not”. In other words he was telling her she did not have a full understanding of who she was attempting to worship. There are different views concerning God.
There is a respectable view — says I know there is a God and I’m not mad at him, but I’ve never really looked into who he really is.
There is a rational view of God — the rational view says I know that he exist, but I’m too busy doing life that I just don’t have the time to understand who or what he really is.
There is a reverent view of God — the reverent view are those who know God and give him the right to run their lives.
Most people do not have a reverent view of God. Certainly this women did not. The scriptures declare that she had five husbands and the one she was living with now was not hers. Jesus wanted to alert her of her riotous living as it related to God. Jesus says to her, GOD IS A SPIRIT. My assignment is to highlight the Spirit aspect of God hoping that it will intensify your worship.

Introduction:

The story was told of a man who was in a car accident. He suffered a head injury and embarked on a severe case of amnesia. As a result of the amnesia he could not remember where his true family was. He attempted to befriend many people, but no one would help him. Finally he ran into an man that was willing to help him. The man helping him did it out of the goodness of his heart. However he did not know who he was dealing with. Well the amnesia soon faded, and he remember who he was. Well it turned out he was rich and he gave the man who helped him $50K.
When it comes to God, it is important that we understand and know who we are dealing with. Jesus says to us GOD IS A SPIRIT.
This word Spirit is the Hebrew word ruach and the greek word pneuma, which can be translated as wind or breath. So God is not flesh or physical as we know physical. He is compared to wind, an invisible breeze.
This means that he has the ability to look at us without us knowing he is looking.
David talks about God knowing everything about us. The biblical term is omnipresent (everywhere all the time).
Psalm 139:7–10 NKJV
Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me.
Psalms 139:7-10
Since God is everywhere, I can worship him anywhere.

A Reverent View of Worship

When you raise your hands in praise what do you see. When you sing your song or do your dance, what do you see?
The men in the scriptures had a Reverent view of God. David viewed him as a spirit everywhere at the same time.
The Children of Isreal viewed God as smoke on the mountain.
Exodus 19:18 NKJV
Now Mount Sinai was completely in smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in fire. Its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.
Moses viewed him as all powerful.
Exodus 4:1–12 NKJV
Then Moses answered and said, “But suppose they will not believe me or listen to my voice; suppose they say, ‘The Lord has not appeared to you.’ ” So the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A rod.” And He said, “Cast it on the ground.” So he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it. Then the Lord said to Moses, “Reach out your hand and take it by the tail” (and he reached out his hand and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand), “that they may believe that the Lord God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.” Furthermore the Lord said to him, “Now put your hand in your bosom.” And he put his hand in his bosom, and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous, like snow. And He said, “Put your hand in your bosom again.” So he put his hand in his bosom again, and drew it out of his bosom, and behold, it was restored like his other flesh. “Then it will be, if they do not believe you, nor heed the message of the first sign, that they may believe the message of the latter sign. And it shall be, if they do not believe even these two signs, or listen to your voice, that you shall take water from the river and pour it on the dry land. The water which you take from the river will become blood on the dry land.” Then Moses said to the Lord, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.” So the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord? Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.”
Isaiah viewed God as high and lifted up.
Isaiah 6:1 NKJV
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.
Isaiah 6:
You got to stop viewing God as something to do, or someone in the sky that has no input on the life you live. You got to view him as the one who allows you to live. When you view him this way, it will affect your behavior.

Incomprehensible

John the Revelator was caught up in a vision. He had been banished out on the asile of Patamos. All because he believed in Jesus. In the vision he saw something that was simple incomprehensible.
Revelation 4:6–11 NKJV
Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back. The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle. The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!” Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying: “You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.”
Revelation 4:
John 4:6–11 NKJV
Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied from His journey, sat thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour. A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans. Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water?

A changed life because of Proper worship

John 4:6-
This women had a terrible situation. Her life was in a mess. She could not stay in a relationship,
Its obvious that she was seeking something to satisfy her,
God is a spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
