Living out the gospel. 12-16 ROMANS 1:1-7 GOD IS INVITING YOU TO SALVATION, HOLINESS, AND SERVICE THROUGH THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST! ROMANS 1:8-17 PASSIONATELY STAND WITH THE GOSPEL THAT WILL TRANSFORM PEOPLE’S LIVES. ROMANS 1:18-32 REJECTING THE TRUTH OF GOD LEADS TO GOD’S JUDGMENT OF A SIN FILLED LIFE AND ETERNAL DAMNATION. ROMANS 2 EVERY PERSON IS WITHOUT EXCUSE. GOD CARES ABOUT YOUR HEART! ROMANS 3:1-8 YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN SIN AND WILL ANSWER TO GOD’S JUSTICE. ROMANS 3:9-20 YOU ARE WITHOUT EXCUSE BECAUSE OF YOUR SIN! SOLUTION: FAITH ALONE Romans 3:2131 Solution: Faith Alone 1. God’s righteousness is revealed by sinful man’s redemption through faith in Christ. 21-22 2. The progression of thought proving God in His righteousness justifies anyone who places faith in Jesus Christ. 23-26 Proving Justification is by Faith Alone 1. Salvation is the same for all people at all times: No distinction. 22b 2. All are sinners. All of us are sinners and do not measure up to God’s righteousness. 23 3. Righteousness comes from God’s free gift of being declared righteous by God. 24a Proving Justification is by Faith Alone 4. God’s grace has provided the means of salvation. 24b 5. God’s means of salvation is by redemption through Jesus Christ. 24b 6. God established Jesus’ death as the means of forgiveness – His death justly pays the price of sin. 25a Proving Justification is by Faith Alone 7. The access to this forgiveness of sin and declaration of righteousness is by faith! 25b 8. Jesus Christ’s death demonstrated God’s righteousness by His patience with man before the cross. 25c 9. Jesus Christ’s death demonstrates God’s righteousness post cross because God is just EVEN the justifier of those who place their faith in Christ. 26 Solution: Faith Alone 1. God’s righteousness is revealed by sinful man’s redemption through faith in Christ. 21-22 2. Conclusion: God’s justification of man by faith in Christ alone proves God’s standard of holiness. 27-31 GOD’S RIGHTEOUSNESS IS REVEALED BY SINFUL MAN’S REDEMPTION THROUGH FAITH ALONE IN CHRIST. I RECEIVE THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD FROM GOD ONLY BY PLACING MY FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST ALONE! Application 1. In order to gain the righteousness of God I must simply place my faith in Jesus Christ. 2. I must set aside any idea that I do something to gain righteousness. When I believe that Jesus paid (redemption) the price for my sin (propitiation), God declares me righteous (justification) giving me the free gift of eternal life (grace through faith). Application 3. We must passionately protect the doctrine of salvation by faith alone – it is core foundational doctrine that must never be compromised. 4. This truth gives us great confidence in our salvation because we recognize that our salvation is nothing of ourselves but all the work of God. I RECEIVE THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD FROM GOD ONLY BY PLACING MY FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST ALONE!
