Did you know that the most protected artifacts in the nation are under extreme security measures, very restricted access and fortification? The constitution and bill of rights are also under similar lock and key. Yet, they are visible and not hidden. They are the most heavily protected, high value, and targeted historical items. They are able to be viewed and read. In our text tonight we are looking at the fact that the Gospel is to be guarded, yet not hidden.
Galatians 2
A private meeting that had public stakes (Vs 1-2)
Intellectual advancement of the Scriptures of even theology does not remove the need for verification and accountability.
A Test with Titus (vs 3)
We need to identify potential areas in our lives and mindset that add subtle requirements to faith in Christ.
False teachers and dangers (Vs 4-5)
Unity (vs 6-10).
The true gospel fellowship is built on share doctrine, not shared methods., convictions, or personality types.
Paul makes mention that he went up to Jerusalem and met with the men of reputation. He met with them to ensure there was no split in the approach and message of the gospel over the convictional perspectives of circumcision. He meets in private to ensure that there is unity in the faith and proclamation of the gospel even though there was difference in the approach, method and people group. The culture audiences were different- but the message was to remain the same.
Much like the founding documents of the United States, the Gospel is heavily targeted and to be protected- yet not hidden.
