Romans 1:8–17 “First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers; Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you. For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end you may be established; That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me. Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles. I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”

The Preaching of the Gospel

Pleasure
Romans 1:8 “First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.”
Paul was pleased with the renowned faith of the Roman Christians
This dedication spreads to others
Romans 16:19 “For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.”
Prayer
Romans 1:9–10 “For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers; Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you.”
Paul prayed for their needs and for an opportunity to visit them
Plea
Romans 1:11–12 “For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end you may be established; That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.”
He wanted to impart spiritual blessings, to establish and encourage them in the Lord
Comforted together by the MUTUAL FAITH (equally yoked) build each other up!
Preaching
Romans 1:15 “So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.”
Paul was eager to be able to preach the gospel to them and their people!
Jeremiah 20:9 “Then I said, I will not make mention of him, Nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, And I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.”
We should be excited to share our faith and the gospel to others!

The Power of the Gospel

Gospel of Power
Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
It is the basis for salvation and transformation
Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
For whosoever believes!!
Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Gospel of Pardon
Romans 1:17 “For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”
It’s faith by which we are justified!
Habakkuk 2:4 “Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: But the just shall live by his faith.”
We are saved by faith!!
Ephesians 2:8–9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Closing

After we experience the power of the gospel, we should share it. We are commanded as Christians to go into all the world and preach the Gospel
Mark 16:15 “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
if we are ashamed of our gospel, we will hide it from those who are lost
2 Corinthians 4:3 “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:”
Paul wasn’t ashamed of the gospel even in the midst of persecution, why are we?
What are the results of being ashamed of Jesus?
Mark 8:38 “Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”
