Most scholars believe there are at least 300 prophecies concerning the Messiah in the OT.
There are specific prophesies about Christ identity and missions
Isaiah 7:14, fortells of how Messiah would enter into the world through a virgin birth. And His name will be Immanuel meaning “God with us”
Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.
Isaiah 9:6 speaks about the Titles of this Messiah. These are more then just names but functions.
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Micah 5:2 speaks about this Messiah this ruler of Israel will be born in Bethlehem
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.”
Zec. 9:9 predicts the rightoues king entering Jerusalem on a donkey. This was Jesus Triumphal Entry
“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.
In Psalm 22:16-18 it speaks about how they would pierce His hands and His feet. And gamble for his clothes.
For dogs have surrounded Me; The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me. They pierced My hands and My feet;
I can count all My bones. They look and stare at Me.
They divide My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots.
The odds of just eight prophecies being fulfilled in one person would be one chance in more than one trillion
many predictions were beyond human control—place of birth, manner of birth, betrayal, manner of death, casting lots for clothing, piercing, and burial place
If you go over to Scotland, or anywhere there are lots of sheep, sooner or later you’re going to see a very unusual sight. You’ll see a little lamb running around the field, and you’ll notice this lamb has what looks like an extra fleece tied around its back. In fact, you’ll see there are little holes in the fleece for its four legs and usually a hole for its head. If you see a little lamb running around like that, that usually means its mother has died.
And without the protection and nourishment of a mother, any orphaned lamb will die. If you take the orphaned lamb and try to introduce it to another mother, the new mother will butt it away. She won’t recognize the lamb’s scent and will know the new baby is not one of her own lambs.
But thankfully, most flocks are large enough that there is a ewe that has recently lost a lamb. The shepherd will skin the dead lamb and make its fleece into a covering for the orphaned lamb, then he’ll take the orphaned lamb to the mother whose baby just died. Now, when she sniffs the orphaned lamb, she will smell the fleece of her own lamb. Instead of butting the lamb away, she will accept it as one of her own.
In a similar way, we have become acceptable to God by being clothed with Christ.
We are clothed with Christ and His righteousness.
1. THE LAMB OF GOD PROPHESIED in the testing of Abraham
God told Abraham to offer his son Isaac as a sacrifice on a mountain in a land name Moriah. This location today is believed to be the Dome of the Rock which is revered by Jews, Christians, and Muslims. its like a shrine a golden dome in Jerusalem.
This place that is revered to millions from multiple religions is pointing to Christ.
Abraham son who’s name was Isaac was the promise son. He was the son of promise.
Isaac was the one where all the nations would be blessed by him. Generation after generation would know about the goodness of God through Isaac.
So he takes his son this promised son all of Abrahams hopes and dreams should be wrapped up in this son. That him and Sarah had to wait tell the age of 90 and 100 to have. This miracle kid. Now he has to sacrifice him.
But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” Then he said, “Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”
And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” So the two of them went together.
In the Old Testament it was the responsibility for the levitical priest to provide a sacrificial offering. In Levitical sacrifice the offerer himself provided the animal.
But here he is saying God its your responsibility to provide the sacrifice.
2. THE LAMB OF GOD TYPIFIED
Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats.
Now you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight.
The lamb being without blemish.
The lamb Lame, spotted, off-colored animals are just as tasty as perfect ones. The meat of an animal with a split ear or a blind eye is not affected by the defect
the reason for demanding perfection rested not in the quality of the meal but in the symbolic purpose: the animal served as a reminder of the eventual deliverance that a perfect God perfectly provided for his people as part of the process of making them holy like himself.
Proper relating to God requires perfection.
Perfection demands perfection; that is why salvation must be by grace, and why works are not sufficient.

3. THE LAMB OF GOD IDENTIFIED
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
He didn’t make the sin disappear but He took it upon Himself.
This is Christ substitutionary action. he died in our place.
He absorbs the consequences of our sin.
He took upon the penalty and the consequence of sin. The punishment of sin He took upon Himself.
So He not only died for your sins but also your brothers sin. Your enemies sin. The politician that you hate sin.
He died for the immgrant sin and the one who works for ICE sins.
He died for the police offer sins and the criminal sins.
He died for the correctional offer sins and the inmate sins.
He died for the slaves sins and the master sins.
He bore the penalty that our wrong doing deserved.
He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities.
For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
Turn!
then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”
Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.
The forgiveness of sin is a characteristic of the new covenant
There is total forgiveness of sins. Some of us have to be healed in this area.
If Christ paid for the sins once and for all theres no need for sacrificing Lambs and goats and various different other animals. Because the sacrifice of those things has to do with sin but Christ has removed sin once and for all.
The logic is impeccable. The argument is forceful. The application is clear: “You’d be a fool, reader, to return to that which is uncertain, imperfect, partial, shadowy and incomplete.”
Our sins have been forgiven perfect righteousness has been satified.
He will again have compassion on us, And will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins Into the depths of the sea.
The only person that is burden by the sins that Christ has forgiven is you.
10 By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.
4. THE LAMB OF GOD CRUCIFIED
He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.—Isaiah 53:7
5. THE LAMB OF GOD SATISFIED
Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.”
And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb’s wife.—Rev. 21:9
6. THE LAMB OF GOD MAGNIFIED
Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.—Rev. 5:12
7. THE LAMB OF GOD GLORIFIED
And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.—Rev. 5:6
