3 And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?
4 If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.
5 And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there.
6 For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us.
7 Wherefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life.
8 And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it.
9 Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king’s household.

History: The city of Samaria was in serious trouble.
They were besieged by one of the most powerful armies in the world.
They were starving.
Donkey’s heads were being sold for food.
Doves dung was being sold for food.
Unspeakable things were being done in the city.
And outside the gates sat four lepers… starving as they are dying of their disease.
It can always be worse for someone!
Rabbinical teaching suggests that these could have well been Gehazi and his three sons…
BUT be that as it may, these four were in dire straights…
No one who ever lived has been in a worse situation!
City behind them was starving.
They had an incurable, flesh eating disease, leprosy.
They were surrounded by a vast army that wanted to wipe out the city.
They had no hope of surviving.
Look at their comments:
If we go into the city, we will starve
If we stay here we will, we will starve
If we go to the Syrians, we may die and we may live…
All we have to loose is our life!
To sit was to die!
There is something about a decision that can change everything!
When they arrived, the camp was empty!
AS they went, a miracle happened!
2 Kings 7:6–7 “6 For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us. 7 Wherefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life.”
It is interesting that the lepers had nothing to loose but their life, the enemy fled for their life!
When you trust God, you have NOTHING to loose!
Something happens we we decide to take a step of faith…
Something happens we you decide to get up and move…
When a person responds… the spirit realm shifts!
The enemy of you soul wants you to be content…
It will be ok…
Everything will work out…
Sit at the gate until you die…
You can sit at the gate until you are swallowed up in hopelessness…
Sitting magnifies fear, getting up magnified their purpose!
You calculate death when you are seated, when you respond you walk into discovery!
Enemy gone!
Provision was waiting!
Victory was waiting on someone to get up and do something!
Breakthrough comes outside your comfort zone!
Think about both those words…
Comfort zone: it is the space in which a person is comfortable in. A person knows what to expect - it is a safe place, predictable and familiar.
It is a low risk, controlled environment with predictable outcomes.
In the comfort zone there is little or no growth and advancement
The comfort zone is a cage disguised as safety
A ceiling disguised as stability
A rut that feels like rest
Breakthrough: A breakthrough is a sudden or decisive advance after a period of resistance, struggle, or limitation.
It is the moment when pressure gives way.
It’s not just progress — it’s barrier-breaking progress.
What Breakthrough Feels Like
Before breakthrough:
Frustration, delay and opposition
Prayers that feel unanswered
Effort with little visible return
Then something shifts.
After breakthrough:
Clarity and momentum
Release and acceleration
Hopeless becomes hopeful!
Breakthrough happens when you choose to get up one more time!
I won’t sit here and die!
I choose to live!
God moves when I move!
Miracles that happened as they went:
Priest feet touching Jordan’s river
Widows oil jars filled 10 lepers
Blind man healed as he went to wash
Withered hand healed as he stretched
Conclusion:
When you decide to live - you don’t just make the decision for yourself…
You make it for your whole community!
