Grace, mercy, and peace be to you from God our Father and from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
There are certain things in life - that are guaranteed. There are Taxes. There is death (unless Jesus comes back first). And then if you own a home things are going to break. When something breaks around the house, you are faced with a decision. Am I able to repair it so it will be like new or do I replace it with something new? There are some people who think no matter how broken something is - that they can fix it. They give reasons and say - “I can get it working like its new, no one will be able to tell.” Or they say it saves me money to fix something that is broken rather than just buying new. Or there are some of the opinion that Duct Tape will and can fix anything. Any of these people out here. (Invite those people over later today!) We see in our text today that Jesus doesn’t just fix something that is broken. Jesus offers something new; Jesus offers life.
Today we have one of the familiar Bible passages known to the world. We have the famous account of John 3:16. But earlier in John 3, we have a man who was a ruler of the Jewish people - Nicodemus.
