“Disciples” Who Do Not Believe

The message this Sunday considers a great turning point in Jesus’s ministry. Jesus’s words fall on some of those present as too difficult to believe, and they end up turning away from Jesus. This is surprising turn, because the people who turn away were among Jesus’s disciples. Evidently not. This text of Scripture, by exposing the false faith of some so-called “disciples,” demonstrates the positive qualities of true faith and asks us to test our own discipleship under Jesus Christ.
