Love/Temptation (Midweek) - Where is your foundation

Believe that as sure as you are in the way of God you must meet with temptations.

So does that mean we have no hope?

Is the enemy going to tempt us forever?

Yes, but there is hope.

Who was tempted this week? (Appropriate)

We are going to be tempted often and always, but as Christians we have power, and Love from Jesus that protects us.

We do however have to have our FOUNDATION set in him.

Colossians 2:6–10 “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ. For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.”

Exhortation from paul to stay IN CHRIST, but how? Lets dig in:

Live your lives…in him

Pause before you speak, make sure you know what youre saying

Pause before you act, make sure you know the Holy Spirit is in control

Pause before work, make sure the spirit is guiding your work

DO WE TAKE TIME TO PAUSE IN LIFE? WHY OR WHY NOT?

Then…Built up IN HIM

Its not “Jesus is making me better”, its “Im better because I got out of the way, and Jesus is working through me.”

HOW OFTEN DO WE SPEND ON THANKFULNESS? ARE WE OVERFLOWING?

2. See to it…

No one takes you captive…

Not friends, Not family, Not bf/gf, not satan, not evil spirits

How? See point number 1 ( YOU HAVE TO WANT TO NOT SIN )

This requires a heart change

Hollow and deceptive philosophy

Temptation (Human tradition)

True Christian philosophy “take[s] captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Cor. 10:5).

3. v.9 In Christ…you have been brought to fullness

When youre tempted the enemy is lying saying you need something you dont actually need

We are full in Christ
