The Model
The Model
Have you ever seen a 3D model of a new construction project?
everything is there in miniature the buildings sidewalks pools trees grass the developers want the investors to have a visual of the finished estate
Moses went up on the mountain to receive the instructions on how the build the tabernacle
V 5
The real Tabernacle is in Heaven. Moses saw that Tabernacle
the Tabernacle that he built was the replica of the original
the tabernacle and its furniture were but a shadow of Jesus
it was the model of what was to come
furniture all pointed to Jesus
the sacrifices pointed to Jesus
We have seen that Jesus is superior to the angels, Moses, Joshua, the law, the High priest.
now we are going to look at Jesus being superior to the temple
The Furniture
The Furniture
The Lamp stand that lights up inside the tabernacle
Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will never walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”
What happens to the unbeliever in the end?
he will be cast into outer darkness
Next is the table of show bread
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me will never hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.
Altar of incense
The incense are the prayers of the people going up to God
Now it happened that while he was performing his priestly service before God in the order of his division,
according to the custom of the priestly office, he was chosen by lot to enter the sanctuary of the Lord and burn incense.
And the whole multitude of the people were praying outside at the hour of the incense offering.
we no longer need a priest to interceed for us. we now have the Holy Spirit to interceed on our behalf
And in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness, for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;
and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
because of Jesus we can come to the throne of grace when we pray
The Brazen Altar
this is where the substitutionary sacrifice gave its life for the sin of the people
sin was judged and the penalty was paid
John the Baptist called Jesus the Lamb of God …
Jesus on the cross bled and died for the sin of His people
Jesus took the substitutionary punishment for sin
Jesus once for all took the punishment for sin. so there is not a daily need of a sacrifice
The brazen laver
this was used to wash the hands and feet of the priests entering into the Holy place
who is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power; who, having accomplished cleansing for sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
we are spiritually clean because Jesus gave to us His righteousness
The mercy seat the ark of the covenant
when Jesus died on the cross the curtain in the temple was torn from top to bottom
this curtain that separated everyone from approaching the mercy seat
because all believers now have access to the almighty
The High priest had to be spiritually cleansed to enter
Jesus has done this for us
He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
The mercy seat is the place that God dwells.
in the tabernacle at one place on the earth
but now
The Holy Spirit dwells in us
we are the temple of God
Do you not know that you are a sanctuary of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
The tabernacle and furniture are but a shadow of the real thing that is in Heaven
or what Jesus represents
The Better Covenant
The Better Covenant
Heb 8 1-6
the temple worship was of the old covenant
the covenant that the people said all that you say we will do
The the law was given, the tabernacle worship was commanded
this worship all pointed to Christ and his work on the cross
The old covenant was about works
works that they or anyone could never achieve
good works that many today are trying to accomplish
keeping the law
but James tell us
For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all.
just 1 little sin, stumble
declared guilty sentence to death
But Jesus is the mediator of a better covenant
Jesus has replaced and is better than the worship furnishings in the Tabernacle
where the blood of animals was spilled daily for the sins of the people
this blood never once saved anybody
this old covenant never saved anybody
it did point to their Messiah who would be the lamb of God to take away the sin
and because Jesus is superior. He is the mediator of a better covenant
a covenant that saves
