Short Story of Possession

Growing up, I always had a little antagonist living inside me. You wouldn’t think it looking at me now—a preacher of the gospel, called to love people to Jesus—but back then, I had a gift for getting under someone’s skin. Especially my baby brother’s.

One day, when he was still smaller than me, we were playing and he pushed just the right button. And that little villain in me woke up. I snatched his favorite blanket, held it high over my head, and started singing, “Naaa naaa na‑booboo… you can’t reach this!” I danced around, laughing, loving every second of being the antagonist.

But something shifted. My baby brother—quiet, gentle, always the smallest—rose up. His face changed. His posture changed. And from deep inside him came a shout I’ll never forget: “GIVE IT TO ME!”

In that moment, something hit me. He wasn’t begging. He wasn’t whining. He was claiming. He realized something powerful: That blanket belonged to him… and so did the authority to take it back.

And church, sometimes the enemy waves what belongs to you right over your head. Sometimes life sings, “You can’t reach this!” But there comes a moment when you stop whining, stop waiting, and rise up with authority and say, “Give it to me—because it’s mine.”

That’s the moment things start to shift.

Confessions are based upon convictions (beliefs)

Matthew’s Gospel is special, because it’s responsible for tying in the purpose of Jesus to those who are already believers

What this communicates to us is that whether you’re a believer or not, you have the potential to miss something

without a conviction there are no confessions

Confessions are important, because they makes clear what it is that we believe

My concern is that the church doesn’t know what it believes anymore

silence is a confession … it communicates the lack of belief which is unbelief

Our Confession Should Always be Kingdom

We are of a Kingdom

We belong to a Monarchy in the Kingdom

Jesus is the King of our Kingdom

Jesus has rule over our Kingdom

we are not of this world

we are in the world and not of it

We must believe and speak the way of the Kingdom

How do I do this?
