Today, on episode 355 of Kids Bible Minute, we will be continuing looking at what it means to a “Defender Of The Faith.” Having looked in our last episode at Immodesty we turn our attention today to the sexual sin of homosexuality. Homosexuality is when a man is attracted to another man or a woman to another woman and they act on that attraction sexually.
Obviously having sex before marriage is sinful, because it is only once a biblically eligible man and woman get married that they are to become one flesh (Genesis 2:24).
When Jesus was asked about marriage and divorce he brought up what God had Moses right in Genesis 2:24 in Matthew 19:4-6.
4 And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? 6 So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”
Now in this we see several things. First, marriage and the sexual relationship is between “one man” and “one woman.” As the old staying goes, “God created Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve” for marriage, sexual gratification, and procreation, in other words having babies.
God has consistently proclaimed homosexuality as sinful and against the very nature of creation itself.
26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting
In the Old Testament we read of Sodom, Gamora, and three other cities all destroyed, in part, because of their homosexual sins.
7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to fornication and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
God looks down on homosexuality so much that it was a sin punishable by death under the Law of Moses.
13 If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.
In our world today, homosexuality is not looked upon in a negative way as it once was. In fact, it is often celebrated, but the faithful Christian cannot celebrate or be ok with sin. Christians must hate sin because it separates that person’s soul from salvation and thus, in essence, murders their soul spiritually.
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
This is why we read in Psalm 5:4-6 what we read.
4 For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness, Nor shall evil dwell with You. 5 The boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity. 6 You shall destroy those who speak falsehood; The Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.
We MUST, as Christians, stand against the sin of homosexuality and not ignore it. We must tell those in such sin, the danger they are in spiritually, and strive to help them overcome this sin, become faithful to God, and have the opportunity for eternity with him in doing so.
Homosexuality is not to be ignored, but condemned by those that love the soul of the one caught up in homosexuality.
