Easter Changes my Purpose

The resurrection doesn’t just rescue my life… it redefines my purpose.
2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here!”
Not improved. Not patched up. Not slightly adjusted.
New.
And yet here’s the tension we feel:
We have a new identity… but we’re standing in the same places.
Same workplace. Same neighborhood. Same family dynamic.
So what changed?
Everything.
Because Easter doesn’t just give you a new destiny. It gives you a new lens.
You are not who you were. But you are still where you were.
Which means maybe God didn’t leave you there by accident.
Maybe your old environment is now the platform for your new purpose.
lets go back to this word… creation
creation doesn’t exist… it has purpose… it has mission… in the beginning God created the HEAVENS and the EARTH
Psalm 19:1
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
when we live under the authority f the resurrection…. we live to declare HIS GLORY and build HIS KINGDOM!

1.) Easter Changes my Ambition

We all measure our lives by something.
Money. Influence. Comfort. Stability. Security for our kids. Personal happiness.
But before the resurrection, even the disciples had the wrong scoreboard.
They thought Jesus came to overthrow Rome. They were arguing about who would be greatest. They were positioning for prominence.
Then the cross shattered their expectations. And the resurrection rebuilt their understanding.
When Jesus walked out of the tomb, He redefined success.
Not power — but surrender. Not comfort — but calling. Not status — but sending.
If Jesus is alive, then success can’t mean what the world says it means.
Mark 10:35–37
“Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him. ‘Teacher,’ they said, ‘we want you to do for us whatever we ask.’ ‘What do you want me to do for you?’ he asked. They replied, ‘Let one of us sit at your right and the other at your left in your glory.’”
prior to the resurrection they wanted success through Christ to look the same as through the world…. prestige and power. thrones.. and seats.
after the resurrection James becomes one of the first martyrs, John the pastor in Ephesus and would later author the book of Revelations.
the change from wanting JESUS to whatever they ask… to doing anything for HIS KINGDOM….
Resurrection Reframed AMBITION.

2.) Easter Changes My Courage

Thomas takes bad wrap… forever being labeled as “Doubting Thomas”
the changing moment for Thomas…
John 20:27–28
“Then he said to Thomas, ‘Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.’ Thomas said to him, ‘My Lord and my God!’”
Resurrection took doubt and created a new destiny
Took fear and re wrote a new future…
YOU ARE A NEW CREATION…. THE OLD IS GONE… the fear of man that held you back is gone… you’ve got a story to tell and its a resurrection story… its a JESUS STORY.
History tells us that Thomas carried the gospel as far as modern day INDIA…. the man who lived with doubt, carried the gospel to a new lands and new people…. don’t tell me your old doubt and fear have a place in your NEW PURPOSE
Easter replaces hesitation with HOLY COURAGE!
do you know that right now 80% of people polled in the US say they would attend church if their friends or family invited them…. what are we waiting for… lets walk out of this place and change the world with a HOLY FIRE and a HOLY COURAGE>>>>

3.) Easter Changes my measure of success

Paul encounters the risen JESUS in Acts 9
Before Christ
-elite education, religous prestige, influence… career trajectory…. THIS IS PAUL THE ZEALOT
now the guy who was on track to have it all…. writes this \
Philippians 3:7–8
“But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ”
**If you live in your new life with the old scoreboard, you will live in frustration….. because the new you has a new mission, and a new mission requires a new standard of SUCCESS….
Paul said… the things that used to matter just don’t matter any more… I’ve seen the resurrected savior… I’ve personally experienced JESUS, my life is forever changed… everything including what success looks like. f
1 Corinthians 15:58
“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labour in the Lord is not in vain.”
***winning is not accumulating…. winning is ADVANCING THE GOSPEL… .winning is your neighbor finding new life in CHRIST…winning is generational faith…winning is the addict being set free….. winning is your life building HIS KINGDOM… so that every man woman and child finds CHRIST

4.) Easter Changes my DAILY LIFE

Romans 12:1–2
So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.
God has extraordinary purpose in your everyday life… some of us have yet to realize that HE MADE US NEW, in the SAME PLACE because HE has a new purpose for our everyday…..
Acts 4:33
“With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all”
sociologist say that the average american deeply influences 20-30 people a week…. what if we took our every day.. every week …. ordinary life and testified the resurrection… and CHANGED THE WORLD
Salvation:
Your life has a higher purpose than you realize… and the number one googled question for years now is what on earth am i here for… why do i exist..
-you will never find the answer to that question in chatgpt… because chatgpt didn’t make you… the only way to figure it out, is to accept HIM.
