Easter Changes Everything: Power

2 Corinthians 5:17

“17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here!”

Notice what he doesn’t say.

He doesn’t say improved.

He doesn’t say repaired.

He doesn’t say slightly adjusted.

He says new creation.

Easter didn’t come to make bad people a little better.

Easter came to make dead people alive again.

The resurrection of Jesus doesn’t just change one part of your life.

It changes everything.

It changes how you see your past—because grace rewrites your story.

It changes your identity—because you’re no longer defined by who you were.

It changes your purpose—because resurrection people live on mission.

But there’s something else Easter changes that many believers never fully step into.

Easter changes your authority.

Because when Jesus walked out of that tomb, He didn’t just prove He had power over death—He shared His Spirit with His people.

Romans 8:11

“11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.”

Which means you are not powerless.

You are not alone.

You are not just surviving life.

You are a new creation carrying resurrection power.

And today we’re going to discover what that really means…

because Easter doesn’t just change what Jesus did.

Easter changes the authority you now live with

1.) Easter Gives changes our ACCESS

Easter didn’t just give us a new identity…. That new identity carries a new access to the spirit and authority of God.

Mark 15:38

“38 The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.”

-the veil was the separation of the holy of holies… the barrier between God and man… and it was TORN

We know this in how we pray… we know this in how we interact with the Father, and The SON…. But watch scripturally how this moment changed our access to the HOLY SPIRIT!

In the Old Testament, BEFORE EASTER…. The Holy Spirit would rest on someone, or upon them for a specific task at a specific time… giving them a specific power

Judges 14:6 “6 The Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him so that he tore the lion apart with his bare hands as he might have torn a young goat. But he told neither his father nor his mother what he had done.”

1 Samuel 10:6 “6 The Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person.”

1 Samuel 16:13 “13 So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David. Samuel then went to Ramah.”

Now you begin to understand the importance also of David’s prayer in

Psalm 51:11 “11 Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.”

John 14:16–17 “16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you for ever—17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.”

Easter didn’t just restore life, it created SPIRIT FILLED LIFE!

2.) The Holy Spirit Gives us AUTHORITY not just EMOTION

So meany people judge the expression of the Holy Spirit by the emotion they experience… the expression of the Holy Spirit is in Authority and POWER… not goose bumps.

Its not emotion… its empowerment by GOD to build the kingdom of GOD

Acts 1:8 “8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.’”

A lot of believers are living in our resurrected life…. With an OLD POWER SUPPLY…. We come to Sunday and we hope the HOLY SPIRIT will rest on us…. When HE LIVES IN US… giving us authority for our daily lives.

You have the Power to:

OVERCOME SIN:

Romans 8:13

“13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.”

Watch how this works…. You live Monday through Saturday fighting the flesh on your own… struggling, discouraged…but then you come to church on Sunday waiting for the HOLY SPIRIT TO rest on you… OLD TESTAMENT… you have the HOLY SPIRIT…. Live by the HOLY SPIRIT

LIVE TRANSFORMED

Galatians 5:16

“16 So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”

SPEAK BODLY

Acts 4:31

“31 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.”

Some of us want the experience of the room shaking…. Oh worship was so good….oh I could just feel the spirit… Oh I got the Holy Ghost Goosebumps…. But we don’t want to SPEAK BOLDLY….

Live with the CHARACTER of CHRIST

Galatians 5:22–23

“22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

The fact is… there is still no law against the FRUIT of the SPIRIT… and how many of us have resurrected faith with rotten fruit… because the FRUIT of our lives is from our OLD SELF that is gone….

The HOLY SPIRIT doesn’t just make these services exciting…. It makes believers EFFECTIVE

3.) The Holy Spirit is a PERSON… not a force

This is not a Star Wars movie… it’s not may the mysterious force be with you…. This is a FUNDAMENTAL misunderstanding of the HOLY SPIRIT

Acts 13:2

“2 While they were worshipping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, ‘Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.’”

The HOLY SPIRIT SAID… forces don’t speak… you don’t build relationship with forces…. We must correct our understanding of the HOLY SPIRIT and the access we have to him. If we are going to CHANGE THE WORLD

SALVATION:

When Christ died… it removed the barrier between you and God…. It paid the price for your sin… it provided a way to eternal restoration of the relationship between you and God… its way more than temporary relief of temporary problems…. And now you have to INVITE HIM… ACCEPT HIM…
