Chapter Summary

In Chapter 9, Jesus encounters a man who was blind from birth. His disciples question whether the man's blindness was due to his own sin or that of his parents. Jesus clarifies that neither is the case; rather, it serves to display God's works. He then heals the man by making mud with His saliva and instructing him to wash in the pool of Siloam, resulting in the man gaining sight. Neighbors are confused, debating whether he is the same beggar they knew. The healed man confirms his identity and explains how Jesus restored his sight.
The Pharisees, upon learning of the miracle, question the man, leading to a division among them regarding Jesus' nature. They summon the man's parents, who confirm his blindness but refrain from identifying Jesus due to fear of expulsion from the synagogue. The man is questioned again, asserting that he does not know if Jesus is a sinner, but he knows he was blind and now sees. The Pharisees dismiss him, claiming he was born in sin.
Later, Jesus finds the man and reveals His identity as the Son of Man. The man believes and worships Him. Jesus comments on spiritual blindness, indicating that those who claim to see are the truly blind.
