Mark 14:12 CSB
On the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrifice the Passover lamb, his disciples asked him, “Where do you want us to go and prepare the Passover so that you may eat it?”

INTRO—

APRIL 1, 1976 — Three friends, Ronald & the Two Steves, began a revolution in founding a new business/company. Well, ultimately just the two Steves, because 11 days later Ronald sold the two Steves his share/percentage of the company for $800.
Starting in the family garage of one of the Two Steves, these guys created…a computer…AND A COMPANY…which has changed the world. Steve Wozniak had been working to create a small computer which could be used at home (or else where). The other Steve, intrigued by Wozniak’s vision, came alongside, bring additional skills…and a name. Having just been on a trip to Robert Friedland's All-One Farm in Oregon…Steve…Jobs…suggested the name “Apple Computers, Inc.”
From that initial creation—the Apple I…to the Macintosh…& the iMac…, we arrive at the January 9, 2007 announcement of…the iPhone (which became publicly available on June 29, 2007).
DAYS…& a DEVICE which has changed the world!
History is replete with days like this…some more infamous than others. I would assert that no days in all of history fit the description of “days that changed the world” than the Thursday through Sunday of Easter week. Today we begin our journey through Mark’s account (largely) of these historic—and historical—days.
We begin with Thursday and the events related to The Last Supper…

SUPPER PREP [MARK 14.12-16]

Mark 14:12 “On the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrifice the Passover lamb, his disciples asked him, “Where do you want us to go and prepare the Passover so that you may eat it?””
JESUS SHOWED…
Providential Planning
Mark 14:13–15 “So he sent two of his disciples and told them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. Wherever he enters, tell the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher says, “Where is my guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?” ’ He will show you a large room upstairs, furnished and ready. Make the preparations for us there.””
THE DISCIPLES…
Finding
Mark 14:16 “So the disciples went out, entered the city, and found it just as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.”
Jesus pointed the way to his perfect providential plan.

DINNER CONVERSATION [MARK 14.17-21]

Mark 14:18 “While they were reclining and eating, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me—one who is eating with me.””
JESUS SHOWED…
Prophesied Betrayal
Mark 14:18 “While they were reclining and eating, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me—one who is eating with me.””
Mark 14:20–21 “He said to them, “It is one of the Twelve—the one who is dipping bread in the bowl with me. For the Son of Man will go just as it is written about him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been better for him if he had not been born.””
THE DISCIPLES…
Fretting
Mark 14:19 “They began to be distressed and to say to him one by one, “Surely not I?””
Jesus pointedly displays his control of what was and was going to be happening.

PICTURE PERFECT PROMISE [MARK 14.22-25]

Mark 14:22 “As they were eating, he took bread, blessed and broke it, gave it to them, and said, “Take it; this is my body.””
JESUS SHOWED…
Picturesque Remembrance
Mark 14:22 “As they were eating, he took bread, blessed and broke it, gave it to them, and said, “Take it; this is my body.””
Mark 14:23–25 “Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank from it. He said to them, “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many. Truly I tell you, I will no longer drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.””
THE DISCIPLES…
Quiet
…at least by all that Mark relates to us we hear nothing from the Twelve.

CONCL—

Mark 14:26 “After singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.”
These days…the Thursday through Sunday of Easter Week…are filled with sorrow and joy and worship and confusion and animosity…and love…
John 15:13 “No one has greater love than this: to lay down his life for his friends.”
