Colossians 1:1-14

Intro

I remember when I started pastoral training in my church in Florida

I was reading through scripture

and I noticed that paul was

was so heavily focused on

the maturity of the church

Paul would visit these regions and

preach the gospel

and then he would plant the church

and establish pastors over the saints

and then he would leave

and go to the next region to share the good news

and as he continued on

he would be deeply concerned

about the people in these churches

and that they were growing in holiness

and in sound doctrine

it brought me back to this passage

when Jesus gives us His High priestly prayer

in John 17:3 “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”

after meditating on this passage

I realized that

the most important thing about life is knowing God

and helping others to know Him as well

But God does not want us just to know Him

He wants us to know Him deeply ———-

Main verse 9 - prayer for the church to be

1-filled with the knowledge of His will vs 9

2- walk worthy by knowing God on a closer level vs 10

3- bearing fruit by His power vs 11

4- resting in the forgivness of our sins vs 13
