FCA is a place that unites two passions, faith and athletics, to impact the world for Jesus Christ. That is the mission that FCA has been on for over 60 years and it has taken them all the way from one basketball coach in Norman, Oklahoma all they way into 115 countries all over the world. I could spend a lot of time covering what FCA is doing overseas but more than that I want to talk about what FCA is doing right here in America and right here in the Coastal Bend.
There are 46 active huddles here in the schools of the Coastal Bend Area.
Isn’t that crazy? That is ten less than there are number of schools. That means that most if not all of you have an opportunity to join a huddle in the school that you are enrolled in right now. Some of you may be already plugged in and that is awesome, some of youn may be asking ‘what in the world is a huddle?’ well I am here to answer just that.
Our huddles are bible studies that get to happen throughout the week inside of these schools. In gyms, classrooms, libraries, you name it.
The huddles are a place to GATHER.
It is so important as a family and as the body of Christ to gather together, fellowship with one another, and do it all in discipleship.
Jesus told us to ‘GO’ and make disciples. FCA is not just a place that disciples get made but it is a place where we equip and empower you, a disciple, to go and make disciples.
The FCA wants you to grow. We do not just want to engage you with the gospel but we want to equip you for the work of God’s people.
Yes that is about growth but it is also about formation. Forming you into a disciple of Christ that can not only share their faith but can defend their faith and in that you can GO.
You can GO and make disciples, you can GO and reach the lost, you can GO and share the hope of Jesus Christ to the unchurched, and you can do it in halls, in the locker rooms, on the field, on the court, on the track, and into the mission field that is your classroom, your locker room, your team, and your home.
FCA wants you to FIND THE FELLOWSHIP. Not just the fellowship with the FCA but fellowship with the body of Christ. We are an extension of the church not a replacement of the church. We want all coaches and athletes to be plugged in to the local church.
Our mission may be to see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes our MISSION is to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church.
Coaches and athletes have the influence, and we as christians have the responsibility to let others know about Jesus Christ and His Gospel. So the FCA is taking that responsibility to the fields and to the courts where the coaches, the athletes, and the fans are answering the call.
