Your Turn for the Glory

As it is in Heaven

John 12:20–26 “And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast: The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus. Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus. And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.”

Introduction

As Christians we ascribe to the fact that we are Kingdom Citizens.

A Kingdom is a country with a government

A government functions through its constitution and constitutional laws

Laws are created to guarantee the promises of the constitution

As citizens of the Kingdom we have the right to demand that our government gives and grants us access to the authority of the Kingdom wherever we are

We have the right to access the Kingdom through the embassy

An embassy is the HQ’s of the Kingdom

We have the right as Kingdom Citizens in foreign land to access the embassy to receive the benefits of our Kingdom while we’re in foreign land

Therefore, we have the right and priviledge to receive the benefits of our Kingdom on earth as it is already established in heaven.

Kingdom Benefits:

Romans 14:17 “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.”

Righteousness, Peace and Joy

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Everlasting life

2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

New Creation

Isaiah 54:17 “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper;

No weapons formed against us shall prosper

Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

God’s glory

What is glory?

it’s to be honored in

to be praised with

or to make one glorious

This is important as God inhabits all glory. The absence of glory would suggest that; although God is everywhere, He is not settling in a place that is not prepared for Him to consume

Jesus, through the preface of our text is attempting to express how important glory is to the Kingdom citizen.

CH. 10, CH 11, & CH 12 are communicating the importance and need for glory

John 10:37–38 “If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.”

Glory is for the unbeliever to believe

John 11:15 “And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.”

Glory is for the believer to remain unwavering in their belief

John 11:40 “Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?”

Glory is for God, but He lives His glory through you

you’re about to experience a set up in the GLORY of God

Conundrum

Am I willing to allow Jesus to use my life as an example of His glory?

We talk a good game …

Can we be honest, that we are ok with God getting the glory out of our lives as long as it’s not at the expense of our convienience

If we’re made inconvienient in any way IDK if I want the glory of God that badly

My conflict in the text is that Jesus knows Lazarus is sick, has been sick, and is at a point of death … before John 11:1, and He chooses to show up

My problem is that Jesus is a problem solver, but I’m concerned that it seems like he picks and chooses when he feels like fixig them

The conflict leads us to a situation for revelation

John 11:5-6

Martha and Mary send word to Jesus about Lazarus condition

John 11:14–15 “Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead. And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.”

Jesus is glad when we endure; our endurance elevates us for an opportunity to experience God’s glory!

Jesus Must be GLORIFIED John 12:23

John 12:23 “And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.”

Jesus is glorified in the way I live my life

Lazarus was Jesus’s friend

we’ve got to be in relationship with Jesus

if we want Heaven on earth, we’ve got to be a fried of Jesus

Lazarus was dead, but now he’s alive

my situation may look messed up, until Jesus shows up

No Grave, No Glory

John 12:24–25 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.”

I’ve got to be willing to die

Jesus makes a symbolism between the wheat and the kingdom citizen

Jesus speaks how the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few

We are the harvest (wheat)

If you’re going to die as wheat, you’ve got to die in the right soil

When a grain of wheat "dies" . It loses its original form as a seed to transform into a new, growing plant, breaking down its protective layer to establish roots and shoot, thereby producing new fruit

I’ve got to let go of some things to be transformed like Jesus

Glory in the fact that Jesus changes the story

John 12:26 “If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.”
