I want to challenge everyone to
look at the ministries you represent
and see how we are doing with the Core Missionary Task.
As a reminder, there are six headings to look at
Entry, Evangelism, Discipleship, Church Formation, Church Leadership, and Exit
The goal is to be working ourselves out of a job.
Let me start with the end in mind, exit.
to state the obvious
every one of us is replaceable.
On a very worldly level
we work for a volunteer organization
And we can create all the spiritual things we want about our jobs
but in the end, if they don’t like what we do
they can get rid of us at any time.
There are other pieces to thinking with the end in mind as well.
Not only are we replaceable
but we all won’t live forever.
That means we should be training up people
to take over for us should God decided to call us home.
At the very least, we should be training up people
to take over for us when we go on vacation,
need to take time for health reasons, etc.
That then should drive the rest of our ministries.
That means we need to train up someone for the leadership positions
and that may mean discipling someone
and that may mean that there isn’t anyone ready yet
so we pray for the person to take over
and then we lead them to Christ.
That may mean we need to find that person that needs Jesus
And that’s just our personal role.
within our ministries, there are the same strategy aspects.
How are we preparing people to exit our ministry well?
People go to college
People going to the next grade level
How are we reaching those that we don’t know?
entry work? We call it outreach
But I like entry rather than the come and hear mentality
it means we go and get people for
becoming a part of the body
rather than absorbing someone into the community.
What about evangelism?
How are we training our people to share the gospel?
How are we teaching them to use music to reach people?
Discipleship
How are we allowing people to help
use their gifts to administrate in the office?
Church Formation
How are we inviting people to be part of our ministry?
These are the evaluation points for all of us.

Pastor Currie and I have met last week.
I will be sharing the Core Missionary Strategy
with specifics to whoever wants to come
before the missions meeting on March 16th.
This is the interest meeting
to share the vision and direction for the Hispanic ministry.
We will be using several different opportunities for entry work.
The first is the ESL class on March 31st.
Banners for the class go up on March 14th following the car show.
Flyers will go out this Friday to five area schools.
Patricio will be here from April 7 - 30th with his family
He will also be doing some entry and evangelism work while he is here.
I’m going to have him preach on April 12.
I need to move the Discovery Class to April 19th
