Ephesians Chapter 1

In Christ

Acts 2:22–23 ESV

22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know— 23 this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.

Ephesians 1:3 ESV

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,

3. In Christ we are blessed with EVERY spiritual Blessing in the Heavenly Places. Ephesians1:20; ch. 2:6; 3:10; 6:12

Ephesians 1:4 ESV

4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love

4. In Him we have been chosen to be found Holy and Blameless. (Wrapped in Love). Ephesians 5:27; Col. 1:22; 1 Thess. 4:7

Ephesians 1:5 ESV

5 he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,

5. In Love He predestined us for adoption. Rom. 8:15,29, 30; Gal. 4:5

Ephesians 1:6 ESV

6 to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.

6. In the Beloved we have been Blessed. Col. 1:13; 2 Pet. 1:11

Ephesians 1:7 ESV

7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,

Ephesians 1:10 ESV

10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in Christ, things in heaven and things on earth in him.

Ephesians 1:11 ESV

11 In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will,

Ephesians 1:12 ESV

12 so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory.

Ephesians 1:13 ESV

13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,

Ephesians 1:14 ESV

14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

Christ is our Guarantee to what awaits us! 2 Cor. 1:21-22; 5:4; Acts 20:32; 1 Peter 2:9-10;

Ephesians 1:15 ESV

15 For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints,

15. In the Lord, is where we fix our Faith. Col. 1:4; Philem. 5; Rom. 1:8;

Ephesians 1:16 ESV

16 I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers,

Ephesians 1:17 ESV

17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him,

17. Through Christ, God desires to give us the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him. Col 1:9-11; 1 Corinthians 2:7-8; 12:8; Proverbs 2:6;

Ephesians 1:18 ESV

18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,

18. Through the indwelling of Christ our eyes of our heart are to be enlightened; that we may KNOW the hope of our calling and the riches of what awaits us! Eph 3:8, 16; Col. 1:27

Ephesians 1:19 ESV

19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might

19. In Christ we Found the immeasurable greatness of His Power TOWARDS us that works in us! Eph 3:7; Phil. 3:21; Col. 1:29; 2:12

Ephesians 1:20 ESV

20 that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places,

The same power that works in us is what rose Jesus from the dead! Acts 2:24; Mark 16:19; Acts 2:33; 1 Pet. 3:22

Ephesians 1:21–23 ESV

21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. 22 And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
