The Corinthians’ focus was not on Jesus. That had led to all sorts of problems that Paul has been addressing for the majority of this letter. With two chapters left, he’s now trying to get them refocussed on what they ought to be focussed on: Jesus!

Our study will be a little bit different tonight, I wouldn’t consider this a sermon as much as an apologetic…

1 Peter 3:15 ESV

but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,

Gospel Refresher

It is always good for us to be reminded of the Gospel that has saved us.

There are some things that I’m always going to refresh myself on before messing with them, like electricity…

God created everything and humanity was the only thing created in his image.

Adam and Eve rebelled against God and, as our representatives, brought all of humanity into sin.

God chose the the line of Abraham to reveal Himself to creation through, giving the law through them, but humanity continually failed to keep the law.

God sent his Son Jesus as humanity’s new representative to live a perfectly righteous life.

Jesus died for our sins. vs 3

Jesus rose from the grave (vs 4) and waits at his Father’s right hand for the time to bring his Kingdom and collect his Church.
