Jesus Arrested
Jesus Arrested
James Stacker writes
Jesus, on this day of shame, tossed, like a ball, from hand to hand—from Annas to Caiaphas, from Caiaphas to Pilate, from Pilate to Herod, with more to follow; and these weary marches in chains and in the custody of the officers of justice, with His persecutors about Him, are not to be forgotten in the catalogue of His sufferings."
Jesus was arrested in the Garden. The mob was Led there by Judas the betrayer working under the power of Satan.
who entered him when he left the upper room the night the disciples, and Jesus were celebrating the passover.
Jesus was then taken to be tried by the Jewish leadership. they accused Him of blasphemy because He said that He was God.
These people wanted to kill Him right there but they were under Roman rule and could not.
the mode of capital punishment by an Israelite was stoning to death.
but it has been prophesied that Jesus would be hung on a cross.
I am poured out like water, And all my bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; It is melted within me.
My strength is dried up like a potsherd, And my tongue cleaves to my jaws; And You lay me in the dust of death.
For dogs have surrounded me; A band of evildoers has encompassed me; They pierced my hands and my feet.
I count all my bones. They look, they stare at me;
They divide my garments among them, And for my clothing they cast lots.
“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up;
both of these are describing a crucifixion, not a stoning
but they were not so law abiding that they would not stone someone to death. because a few months later they woul stone Steven.
But crying out with a loud voice, they covered their ears and rushed at him with one accord.
And when they had driven him out of the city, they began stoning him; and the witnesses laid aside their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.
They went on stoning Stephen as he was calling out and saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!”
but God’s form of punishment that Jesus was going to endure was the crucifixion
so they had to take Jesus to Pilate the Roman Governor
Jesus Before Pilate

Pilate Declares Not Guilty
V 3-4
not guilty
for Jesus to be our savior. to be our substitute He cant be guilty of any sin
the leadership made up false accusations
the Passover lamb had to be brought into the home it had to live with the family for 3 days to be sure that it had no defects
then it could become the passover lamb. to be slaughtered to take the place of the first born in every home.
the killing angel that was killing all of the firstborn in Egypt would see the blood on the door and passover that home
V 14-15
again not guilty
By oppression and judgment He was taken away; And as for His generation, who considered That He was cut off out of the land of the living, That for the transgression of my people, striking was due to Him?
So His grave was assigned with wicked men, Yet He was with a rich man in His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was there any deceit in His mouth.
It was prophesied that He would live his whole life without sin
Adam and Eve the first temptation they got they fell
Jesus even after 40 days in the wilderness did not sin
V 22
Not guilty! 3 days observing the sheep
3 times Pilate declared not guilty
Pilate did not find fault
Harod did not find fault
but the people were rioting for the crucifixion of Jesus so Pilate granted their request

Many of the people that were in the croud saying crucify Him crucify Him we saved at pentecost
They insisted that Pilate hang Jesus on the cross
and Jesus looking down from the cross saying Father forgive them
Jesus knowing that this was some of the people He came to die for.
What a great God!!
That you or I were ever chosen to be set free from our slavery to sin and death
we was not in the crowd that day
but we are just as guilty as they were
Jesus had all of His people were on His mind as He was standing before Pilate
He being falsely accused so we could be saved
