There is a scripure above my doo in the office — 1 Chronicles 28:20
20 David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the Lord is finished.
I wondered as to the meaning of this passage, I read a packet concerning the history of New Beginnings Church and it was the passage God gave Pastor Harvey Shapiro.
We are here because God has a plan for New Beginnings. He has called us all to this place for this season.
I came to New Beginnings having prayed and considered things that God has revealed to me over the last 5 years.
My prayer, “God in all that you have had me consider is for New Beginnings?”
The answer to that prayer is what I bring for your consideration to day.
As we plan for the future prayer is foremost. No plan or vision is possible or accomplished without God.
God is and should be at the center of everything.
The board and I have been praying that God would give clarity and discernment concerning His plans for New Beginnings.
As I considered this a verse came to my mind many times
18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: But he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
This passage is telling us that when there is an absence of vision the people of God are unrestrained, out of control, and run wild.
Believe it or not that can happen in churches. That is why we pray for our vision to be God’s vision, that we are following Him and not going before Him.
Like the Children of Israel as they wondered in the dessert, God must be at the center and we move only when He does.
Consider our Mission Statement — To share the love of Jesus with our world and to make disciples who make disciples.
We are answering the most important question: “What does Jesus want to have happen in people’s lives.
We need to dream, dream’s don’t cost anything.
I read this once, “Envision great things for God, attempt great things for God, realize great things for God.”
The stopping point so often is in the attempt. Christians seem afraid of failure. So many never dream.
Remember what Jesus said — Matthew 19:26
26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Anything is possible with God, even things that we might think are impossible.
This is the vision I have been working with God:
A church of hundreds
A church with the presence of joy
A church filled with love, grace, and mercy
A church that serves
A multigenerational church
A church with a new facility that will seat 400, with classrooms, and a multifunctional youth center
Does that seem impossible? Dose it seem crazy?
Anything is crazy until God does it!
There three essential things we need:
Grow deep — people are actually maturing and becoming disciples of Christ
Grow wide — There is a steady stream of people putting their faith in Christ
Make impact — the church is meeting some of the most significant needs of the community.
With all this in mind here is a Vision Statement: — A multigenerational church, training disciples in life groups to engage the community around us leading people to Christ.
Our vision statement is not our mission statement.
We come to two things:
B.I.O.
Before God Daily — Our personal devotion time
In Community Weekly — We are in a life group, life change happens in life groups!
Monday morning 10:00 AM Discovering Jesus
Wednesday Evening Fire
Sunday Morning — Life Class 201 Membership then 301 Discipleship
Band of Brothers — 2nd and 4th
J.O.Y. — Third Saturday
If these don’t work see me there is no reason to not be in a life group!
Life Groups — The real you meeting real needs for the right reasons in the right way!
That is where real transformation happens!
On Mission 24/7 — Our 8 to 15 show card
I said there are two things first is BIO
2. Then there are the Life Classes:
101 — New Believers
201 — Membership
301 — Discipleship
401 — Living a Holy Life
501 — Mission
These are classes where disciples are making disciples preparing each other for our place in the kingdom.
That is how we implement God’s vision
13 Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.
14 The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
15 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on.
16 Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground.
God is telling us to Go forward!
Is it scary? Does it seem risky?
That is how we tend to respond to the unknown, but that should not stop us!
Risk is a natural and unavoidable outgrowth of vision!
4 When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”
Are you ready to launch out into the deep?
As we look at our calendar today at lunch consider this, “Just because because we have always done something doesn’t mean we keep doing it. Just because because we have always done something that way doesn’t mean we keep doing it that way.”
We are in a new season and God maybe doing something new.
Are there things we can add and subtract — Not doing something and trying something new.
None of this is intended to be a new program or us trying to be like another church this is us doing what God has called us to do.
All of this becomes part of life New Beginnings, it becomes our DNA.
The outcome of this vision has been the creation of our core values
Evangelism — Sharing the love of Jesus with our world
Worship — Expressing devotion and participating in a joyful presence
Fellowship — Building strong relational community bonds
Discipleship — Maturing through training in life groups
Ministry — Meeting the most significant needs of the community
Now comes your part — 1 Corinthians 12:14-26
14 Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.
15 Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body.
16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body.
17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?
18 But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.
19 If they were all one part, where would the body be?
20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body.
21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!”
22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,
23 and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty,
24 while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it,
25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.
26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
That is a long passage but I hope you get Paul’s point!
None of what I have outlined is possible with out all of working together!
We all have a place in this body, in this part of the kingdom of God.
You are uniquely gifted for your purpose!
The vision God has given requires all of us to do our part, to grow toward maturity, all for the glory of God.
So hear me
Get before God daily
Get in community weekly
Get on mission 24/7
God is faithful, He has provided all we need!
He has provided the workers and the harvest is ready!
Let’s today go forward and follow Him into the glorious future He has planned for us!
Let’s Pray!
