In this message, Robert continues our new series “I AM” by exploring one of the most powerful names of God: Jehovah Jireh — “The LORD Will Provide.” We start by looking back at Sunday’s reminder that God is personal, He speaks, and He meets us in our real questions. From there, we turn to the story of Abraham and Isaac in Genesis 22, where God reveals Himself as the One who sees our need and provides at the perfect time. Together, we unpack how “Jehovah Jireh” carries a dual meaning — God not only provides, but He also sees ahead. We learn what this looks like in our own lives through two big truths: God Sees You. Before you even voice your need, He already knows and cares deeply. God Isn’t a Vending Machine. His provision comes from the heart of a Father, not as a genie granting wishes. The message climaxes with the ultimate picture of God’s provision: the cross. Just as God provided a substitute for Isaac, He provided Jesus as the perfect sacrifice for us. The knife was stopped for Isaac — but the nails were not stopped for Jesus. Our debt was paid in full. In the end, we’re challenged to stop carrying guilt, shame, and self‑reliance, and instead trust the God who sees, the God who provides, and the God who finished the work through Jesus. God sees you. God provides for you. And Jesus is the proof.

whats up inverted?
we are starting the new series “I AM”, who was here on sunday?

Sunday Recap

God Is Personal (PL Testimony) “God answered my exact questions.” A clock radio turned on to a preacher repeating the very questions asked the night before. Takeaway: God is real and involved.
you’ve probably had a moment where you were desperate for answers like pastor lLarry, and it felt like something or someone was speaking to you, or pulling you toward something. That’s the part I want you to get: God meets people in their real questions.
God Speaks to Everyone No one is disqualified by background or status. God loves you and Jesus died for you. (John 10:27; Romans 5:8)
You Have a Divine Purpose Like Moses called from the wilderness, God calls you where you are not after you “fix” your life. Don’t waste it in chaos; step into your calling. (Exodus 3:1–10; Ephesians 2:10)
Who Is “I AM”? From Exodus 3: “I AM WHO I AM” God is self‑existent, eternal, all‑sufficient Creator. He doesn’t just give help; He is the help. (Exodus 3:14–15)
Choose Faith Today Coincidence or calling? Decide. Choose to believe and live for Him now today is the day of salvation. (2 Corinthians 6:2; Joshua 24:15)
And if God is personal and involved like we talked about on Sunday… then this name we’re looking at tonight (Jehovah Jireh) shows us exactly HOW He provides.

Tonight I want to show you how God doesn’t just SEE your need — He PROVIDES for it… and Jesus is the proof.

What Does “Jehovah Jireh” Mean?

It comes from Genesis 22:14 (Abraham & Isaac)
last week i spoke briefly on the story

Brief Passage breakdown:

Before we even get into the Abraham story, you need the quick context so the whole rest of this makes sense.
pre-requisite:
the wage of sin is death
the penalty needs to be paid of God is the perfect judge
Sacrificing lambs cleaned Israel of their sins
this foreshadows Jesus
Jesus paid the ultimate price when we deserved death
Story:
God tells Abraham to sacrifice his son, not a lamb
Abraham goes without questioning God, 3 day journey (foreshadow Jesus)
as he walks to the altar with Isaac he says this:
Genesis 22:8 CSB
Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” Then the two of them walked on together.
God provides just as he said
then this happens:
Genesis 22:14 CSB
And Abraham named that place The Lord Will Provide, so today it is said, “It will be provided on the Lord’s mountain.”
This is where in the ancient hebrew, the part where it says “The Lord Will Provide”, this is where its translated in the ancient language to “The Lord will provide”.

1. God Sees You

The name is also translated to How God sees us
Jehovah Jireh has a dual meaning that works together
The name not only means he provides for us, but that he also perceives us.
so this word has those 2 meaning and God is both of those meanings
so not only does he see us and our needs, but he is able to see it way before we even say anything.
Abraham’s need was to sacrifice
God saw his need for his son and the promise God made about him years before
so heres the thing, God keeps his promises, and he did so with Abraham
the point was obedience
Abraham knew God would provide (Genesis 22:8)
God stepped on time.
our timing isnt God’s
it takes time to understand, but is freeing when you know
If God is the One who PROVIDES, then we need to understand HOW He provides like a Father.
So God sees your need.

2. God isnt a Vending Machine

Psalm 37:4 CSB
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.
its easy to misunderstand this
we cant just take this at face value
lets look at the next verse:
Psalm 37:5 CSB
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act,
clearly we need to be aligned with him before asking for anything
we need to fear him explain:
A lot of christians will take certain verses out of context and run with it
a lot of people who hate christians will also do the same thing
shouldnt believers look different?
Matthew 7:7–11 CSB
If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him.
picture when your parents tell you not to do something, or you ask them for something and they say no, most of the time its to protect you.
God also is trying to protect us
He doesnt want us hurt
God wants to give us things
but he’s willing to give us what is in his will (things that will benefit us in the long-term)
If you guys still struggle with the idea of God not just answering everything you want him to answer, lets look at one more verse:
1 John 5:14–15 CSB
This is the confidence we have before him: If we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears whatever we ask, we know that we have what we have asked of him.
the condition to receiving something you want from him is tied directly to if it is aligned for his will and purpose of our life
And God provides the right way — not cheap, not shallow, but as a Father.

3. Redemption was Perfected (closing, play soft worship)

Earlier in Genesis 22 we saw that Abraham understood God would provide.
Just like God’s name “Jireh”, he saw Abraham’s need, and he provided for that need just in time.
This mirrors exactly the story of Christ’s crucifixion.
Romans 5:6 CSB
For while we were still helpless, at the right time, Christ died for the ungodly.
God saw our need for a savior, he saw we were helpless, and yet at the perfect time, Christ died for us to be saved, forever placing those who believe into God’s presence.
The knife was stopped before being plunged into Isaac, but the nails were not held back and were plunged into the hands and feet of Jesus.
Just as God spared Isaac from death, Jesus spare us from death.
Matthew 27:45–48 CSB
From noon until three in the afternoon, darkness came over the whole land. About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Elí, Elí, lemá sabachtháni?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” When some of those standing there heard this, they said, “He’s calling for Elijah.” Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge, filled it with sour wine, put it on a stick, and offered him a drink.
John 19:30 finishes like this
John 19:30 CSB
When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished.” Then bowing his head, he gave up his spirit.
Guys, our debt to sin was paid in full.
so why are some of us still paying for and killing ourselves over the lies of sin in our lives?
why are we still holding on when we’ve been freed already
God sees you.
God provides for you.
And Jesus is the proof.
Some of you are carrying guilt… shame… trying to fix yourself… trying to pay for something Jesus already paid.
