In order a trial to take place they had to arrest Him first,…in order for the arrest to take place they needed the cooperation of Judas

Before we look at the trials let us look at 5 things that were illgal in the trials of Jesus.
In the days of Jesus Rome ruled and it was illgeal for the Jews to put anyone to death. Jewish law said their were certain crimes where you could stone someone, J. 8. but under the iron fist of Caesar Tiberius capital punishment must be carried out before a Roman court. When they tried Jesus they found Him guilty of blasphemy, which under Jewish law is punishable by death, but not under Roman law, so what would they have to do?

Trial 1 Jesus before Annas
John 18:19
Here's Jesus, hands ties behind his back, standing in front of Annas. Everything about it is illegal. He has no business standing before someone who is not in council.

about His teaching
John 18:20–22 KJV 1900
Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing. Why askest thou me? ask them which heard me, what I have said unto them: behold, they know what I said. And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?

But it was Jesus who was in control
He knew He was inocent. He knew that what He taught was true.
And He never fainted under the cross that He bear.
Trial 2 Jesus before Caiaphas
Matthew 26:57–68 KJV 1900
And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled. But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest’s palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end. Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death; But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses, And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days. And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee? But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy. What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death. Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands, Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?
Mt. 26:57-68
They took Jesus away unto Caiaphas’ house, the trial, it was still night when it took place.
Caiaphas sought false wittnesses, not people who would tell the truth.
Caiaphas couldn’t find anyone who agreed, he couldn’t find anyone that could tesify
Caiaphas said what think ye? He didn’t say let’s vote!
Mark 14:56 KJV 1900

Trial 3 Jesus before Sanherdian
All that transpired occurred during the hours of darkness, and therefore nothing would be recognized as official by the Romans until he had his audience before the Sanhedrin.
Luke 22:66–71 KJV 1900
And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying, Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe: And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go. Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God. Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am. And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.

Procedure. And there were four steps that they must follow to make this an accurate
court of law.
First law of precdure is Accusation
Take Him away…Pilate doesn’t know that it is captial punishment they seek
2. Second law of procedure is interrogation
Pilate wanted to know if He was plotting to over throw the goverment
Jesus answers my kingdom is not of this world.
3. Third law of procedure is defense
Pilate acted like a defense attorney here
4. Forth law of procedure is verdict.
Pilate found no fault in Him, that was what His verdict was.
When Pilate hears that He is a Galilee he send Him to Herod the governor of Galilee
Trial 5 Jesus before Herod
Luke 23:8–11 KJV 1900
And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him. Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing. And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him. And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.

It was no trail at all. Herod just wanted to be amused, wanted Jesus to perform some miracle for him.
Trial 6 Jesus before Pilate

Luke 23:12–25 KJV 1900
And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves. And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people, Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him: No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him. I will therefore chastise him, and release him. (For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.) And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas: (Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.) Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them. But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go. And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed. And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required. And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.
Pilate declared Him innocent
Offered to chastise Him and beat, but they wanted Him crucified
He offered to let Him go on the custom of the Passover but they crucify
Conclusion:
So, then they gathered a whole band of soldiers, stripped him and put on a scarlet robe, placed a crown of thorns on his head, and a reed in his right hand, mocked him by bowing down and saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”, and they struck him on the head, spit upon him, and led him away to be crucified.

bowing down and saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”, and they struck him on the head, spit upon him, and led him away to be crucified.
Jesus didn’t have to go through all this, He was innocent of any crime, of any sin.
He did it for us.
upon him, and led him away to be crucified.
We you and I deserve that humiliation He went through. We deserve the beating and the mockery, we deserve the nails in the feet and hands. We are the ones who are guilty.
Jesus did not die for Himself He died for you and I, He died so we could live.
